Post subject:  Humongous Melonheads - The Quest for the Cereal Bowl

As some of the older members may remember, back when I first joined the site I had a Backyard Baseball season log. It was fun to write and seemed to be generally well-received, so I've decided to create a similar log, this time with Backyard Football.

Just as with the original, I will be incorporating a fantasy element if enough are interested. The teams are small, so participation will be limited (up to 7, depending on if I can reasonably keep track of points for every player on the team) but I intend to make it so that any one player or position has no significant advantage.

If you're interested in participating, PM me and I'll randomize the draft order once I get everything set up. If not, I hope you'll at least follow a long as a fan of the BFL. ;)

Melonheads' 2015 Roster Set
Fresh-faced RB looks to make splash alongside veteran Marino
September 2nd, 2015

Coming off a campaign in which the Melonheads failed to reach the playoffs—losing two of their last three to fall a game short at 7-7—the acquisition of running back Nick White is hoped to be the final push that the team needs. The Melonheads' most valuable asset, quarterback Danny Marino, will have familiar weapons to work with, as wideouts Amir Khan and Ashley Webber return following productive but unspectacular 2014 campaigns. Charged with the task of protecting Marino will be the team's other newest member, Angela Delvecchio, a skilled linegirl and placekicker. Pass protection was the Achilles heel of last year's team, so Delvecchio's play will be integral to this year's performance. Headlining the defense will be hard-hitting linebacker Marky Dubois and speedy safety/return girl Gretchen Hasselhoff.

The team's schedule will be released sometime during the week; in the meantime, all we can do is wait for what will certainly be another exciting season of BFL football!

Roster

QB - Danny Marino
Dan holds almost every passing record in the book. In fact, there wasn't even a book until he came along. He's not the fastest kid, but you don't have to be fast when you can pass like he does.
Code:
Passing -  OOOO
Catching - OO
Running -  O
Blocking - OO
Kicking -  OO

RB - Nick White
White isn't the best as a pass-catching back, but Marino's vertical threat style of play means that doesn't matter a whole lot. He's very quick and has the arm strength to complete a trick pass or two.
Code:
Passing -  OOO
Catching - OO
Running -  OOO
Blocking - O
Kicking -  OO

WR/CB - Ashley Webber
No, this isn't Sidney again. It's her twin sister, Ashley. Individually, Ashley and Sidney are good all-around athletes, but when they play together, they're even better.
Code:
Passing -  OOO
Catching - OOO
Running -  OO
Blocking - OOO
Kicking -  OO

WR/CB - Amir Khan
Amir's a smart kid. He's got a great eye for the ball and a pretty respectable kicking leg. He likes to play with his big brother Achmed.
Code:
Passing -  OO
Catching - OOO
Running -  OO
Blocking - OO
Kicking -  OOO

OL/DL/K - Angela Delvecchio
Angela's got two left feet. Just get out of the way when she uses them. She can kick that ball to the moon. Her clumsiness makes her a liability on offense, but on defense it almost helps her.
Code:
Passing -  OO
Catching - O
Running -  O
Blocking - OOO
Kicking -  OOO

LB - Marky Dubois
Marky learned how to play football by tackling goats. Marky doesn't wear shoes, and getting him to put on a helmet isn't easy either.
Code:
Passing -  OOO
Catching - OOO
Running -  O
Blocking - OOO
Kicking -  OO

S/KR/PR - Gretchen Hasselhoff
Gretchen is one of the fastest players in the league. She's also got one of the fastest mouths. If she ever stops talking, she'd make a pretty good running back free safety.
Code:
Passing -  OO
Catching - OO
Running -  OOO
Blocking - OOO
Kicking -  O

I currently have six participants, so there's room for one more. The draft order is as follows:

1. LetsGoMets77
2. AgentP
3. Baseballteen9500
4. Paul McCartney15
5. Powerprosfan31
6. ZeroGibson13
7. BrewersFuzz

LGM, you're on the clock. I don't have the scoring system perfected just yet, but I'm working on creating one that won't favor any of these players for anything other than their respective levels of play. Choose wisely.

LGM picks Dan Marino. AgentP is on the clock.

You can post your pick in the thread so the next person knows when it's their turn.
