NEW LEAGUE

A new league, the World Baseball League, has just been created. Recent whistle-blower J.J. Watt is going to manage a team in the European Division, the Moscow Czars. The leagues are as follow (MLB Setup fyi)

Czars win opening day with 4-1 victory over Empires

The Moscow Czars scored 4 runs on opening day at the London Empires. Alex Gordon led the team with 2 rbi's with Dyson and Donaldson having 1 each. Strausburg pitched 6.1 innings with 1 run, earning the win, and 1.2 inning by Gomez, and the 1 inning save by Chapman. POTG is Jarrod Dyson

The next day, which was an off day, I was able to sign Vlad jr, who is already 1 star at age 16 with a 5 star potential. He was placed in AA

In the second game of the series, the Czars scored 7 runs in a 7 - 1 victory. McCann led the team with 3 RBI's, with Dyson, Gordon, Ortiz and Peterson each contributing one. Freese came in in the 5th inning, replacing Ryan Rua. Walker pitched 8 innings of 1 run 3 hit ball with 10 k's, earning the win. Arnoldis Chapman pitched 1 inning, with no runs. POTG is Walker

In the third game of the series, the Czars scored 5 runs in a 5 - 6 walf-off loss. Donaldson led the team with 3 RBI's, all from a home run, with Pearce and Rua chipping in with one each. Bauer pitched 7 innings of 4 run ball, with Beliveau pitching 1 inning of relief with no runs. Chapman blew the 1 run lead, allowing 2 runs in his first blown save of the season. POTG was Josh Donaldson.

We also claimed Evan Reed RP (3.5 Stars) off waivers, and promoted him to the Czars. Carlos Frias was demoted to AAA St. Petersburg. Next series will be going to the Colosseum and face the Rome Gladiators.

Series against Rome Gladiators

The Czars start the series with a 4 - 2 win over Rome. Donaldson led the team with 3 RBI's (5, 6, 7) aided by TWO HR's (2, 3), and Panik adding another RBI (1). Aaron Sanchez pitched 7 innings of 2 run ball to get the win (1). C. Martinez pitch 1 scoreless inning and Wade Davis secured the save (1), with another scoreless inning. POTG is Aaron Sanchez. Evan Longoria (ROME) was injured, and will be out for 6 weeks.

The Czars drop the 2nd game 1 - 2. Donalson had the teams sole RBI (8) with a solo HR (4). Dickey pitched 8 innings of 2 run balls, earning the loss (1). POTG was Hector Santiago with 6 innings of 4 hit 1 run ball.

The Czars positively rekt the Gladiators, 13 - 5.
Nick Markakis, came in for Pearce in the 6th, had 4 RBI's (1, 2, 3, 4) and a HR (1). Alex Gordon had 3 RBI's (4, 5, 6) and a HR (1). Panik had 2 RBI's (2, 3) and a HR (1). Peterson (2), Dyson (3), Rua (2), all had 1 RBI each. DAVID ORTIZ WAS WALKED 5 TIMES, SETTING THE OLD WORLD SINGLE GAME RECORD. Strausburg pitched 7.2 innings of 5 run ball to get the win (2). Gomez pitched 1.1 innings of no run ball to conclude the game. POTG is Nick Markakis.

The Czars were ranked 7th in a power ranking poll, and are 1 game behind Paris in the European divison

Czars home opener

The Czars lose their home opener, 3 - 2, against the Berlin Brewers. Freese (1) and Duffy (1) had the only RBI's for the Czars. Osuna pitcher 7 innings of 3 run ball for the loss (1), with Reed pitching the final two scoreless innings. POTG is Julio Tehran.

The Czars take a hard fought 2nd game, 7 - 8. Alex Gordon had two RBI's (7,8) and two HR's (2,3). Ortiz also got two RBI's (2,3) on a HR (1), along with Markakis, who hit the two RBI (5,6) game winning HR (2) in the 8th. Dyson (4) and Duffy (2) also chipped in one RBI each. Walker was pulled after 2.1 innings of 6 run ball. Gomez reliefed 2.2 innings of no run ball, followed by Beliveau's 2.0 innings with 1 run. Martinez secured the win (1) after 1 inning of no run ball, and Chapman got the save (2) afterward. POTG is Alex Gordon. In other news the Jakarta Monsoons owner died today, leaving the club to his son.

The Czars lose in a terrible fashion, 10 - 3. Pearce scored two RBI's (2,3) off of two HR's (1,2). PH Markakis also got an RBI (7). Bauer pitched 6.2 innings with 4 runs (only 2 earned). Reed pitched an inning allowing 2 runs, and Wade Davis pitched 1.1 allowing 4 runs. POTG is Yasmani Grandal, 2 - 3, 3 RBI's, 1 RUN, 2 BB. In other news Humberto Quentero was DFA'd and waived and Juan Centeno was promoted.

In the first fourth game of the season, the Czars lose 8 - 2. Rua was the only scorer with 2 RBI's (3,4) on a HR (1). Sanchez pitched 6.1 innings of 6 run ball (4 earned), to get the loss (1). Martinez pitched 1.2 innings with 1 run and Beliveau pitched 1 inning with 1 run. POTG is Tyson Ross, 6.2 IP with 2 H and 1 run to earn the win.

Czars play first New World Team

The Panama Mosquitoes visited Moscow for a 3 game series. The Czars win 3 - 4. Duffy had a HR (1) to score 2 RBI (3,4). Ortiz (4) and Markakis (8) each scored an RBI. Dickey pitched 8 innings of 4 hit, 3 run ball to earn the win. Chapman pitched a perfect 9th inning for the save (3). POTG is Dickey.

The Czars lost 6 - 2. Ortiz (5) and Pearce (4) had thr Czar's only RBI's. Strausburg pitched 6 innings of 4 run ball to earn the loss (2 - 1), and Osuna pitched 3 innings of 2 run relief. POTG is Travis Wood, 8.2 IP, 5 H, 2 ER.

The Czars were murdered 12 - 1. The only RBi was by Duffy (5). Walker pitched 3 innings of 4 run ball to earn the loss (1 - 1). Gomez pitched 1 inning of 6 run ball. Martinez pitched 2 innings of 2 run ball. Bauer came in relief and pitched 1.2 innings of perfect ball, followed by a perfect 1.1 innings by Davis.

Nick Castellanos, Auckland Mariners - 13 - 29 2 HR's 9 RBI's


The Czars were ranked 19th in a recent power ranking. The Czars are 3rd in the european, 3 1/2 games behind Paris and Berlin, and 1 1/2 games out of a wildcard.

Pearce removed as Czar's starting Right Fielder

In a stunning move today announced by JJ Watt Steve Pearce is no longer the Czar's RF. Instead it will be Nick Markakis. Pearce will play every 3rd game. Their stats are a followed

Pearce - .206 AVG 2 HR 4 RBI 34 AB
Markakis - .333 AVG 2 HR 8 RBI 18 AB

There has also been word of the Czar's shopping James McCann - .150 AVG 0 HR 3 RBI 40 AB. They've heard about Kurt Suzuki and Rick Porcello as possible targets.
