I know that rainouts are a thing. But I can't force one to happen. If there's off days in-game, and games played on said off days IRL, I'll honor the off days.

Pre-game
Nothing to report.

AROUND THE LEAGUE
Nothing to report.

The Game

Tigers (19-10) @ Athletics (16-13)

Matchup: Verlander (3-2, 3.40 ERA) vs. Hahn (2-0, 2.73)

DET - 4 | 9 | 0
OAK - 0 | 4 | 1

W - Verlander (4-2)
L - Hahn (2-1)

PoTG: Justin Verlander (DET)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Tigers might not challenge the Mets for the best record in baseball (24-5), but with the run they're on, it's certainly possible.

Justin Verlander was sharp for the Tigers, throwing a shutout of the A's on 112 pitches, only giving up four hits and striking out eight. Miguel Cabrera had a two-run homer in the eighth to put the nail in the coffin late.

Pre-game
Nothing to report.

AROUND THE LEAGUE
-Mariners 1B Barbaro Canizares in a custody battle over his pet chihuahua.

The Game

Tigers (20-10) @ Athletics (16-14)

Matchup: Greene (2-0, 2.00 ERA) vs. Gray (1-0, 6.29)

DET - 2 | 6 | 1
OAK - 3 | 10 | 0

W - Gray (2-0)
L - Greene (2-1)
S - Doolittle (10)

PoTG: Sonny Gray (OAK)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The streak is over. Long live the streak.

Sonny Gray baffled the Tigers tonight, striking out 13 Detroit batters in 6.1 innings of work. Shane Greene was OK, but two homers to Mitch Haniger and Trevor Plouffe were the daggers for him tonight.

J.D. Martinez went yard for the Tigers.

Pre-game
Nothing to report.

AROUND THE LEAGUE
Nothing to report.

The Game

Tigers (20-11) @ Athletics (17-14)

Matchup: Zimmermann (2-1, 3.72 ERA) vs. Manaea (1-3, 6.88)

DET - 3| 6 | 0
OAK - 8 | 15 | 0

W - Manaea (2-3)
L - Zimmermann (2-2)

PoTG: Yonder Alonso (OAK)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Despite a two-run home run for Miguel Cabrera in the top of the first inning, the Tigers couldn't muster up too much on offense today, falling to the A's and losing the series. Everyone but Khris Davis had a hit for Oakland, who only had three extra base hits in the entire game, and refused to strike out.

Lost in the shuffle for the Tigers: Guillermo Heredia's 14-game hitting streak came to an end in this game, going 0-4.

Now watch what happens when V-Mart comes back off the DL. Can you say logjam? Can you say "I might need to have Moya learn how to play catcher"?

Can you say "J.D. Martinez is expendable," maybe?

I've got decisions, man.

Pre-game
-DH Victor Martinez placed on rehab assignment to AAA Toledo
-SS Dixon Machado placed on waivers

AROUND THE LEAGUE
-Orioles sign 3B Manny Machado to 6-year, $126.6M extension

The Game

Tigers (21-13) @ Angels (19-17)

Matchup: Verlander (4-2, 2.81 ERA) vs. Skaggs (2-2, 5.86)

DET - 3 | 12 | 0
LAA - 4 | 13 | 1
(14 innings)

W - J.C. Ramirez (2-0)
L - Machado (0-1)

PoTG: Mike Trout (LAA)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Three Tigers hit the infirmary today, with Justin Verlander, Jose Iglesias, and Paco Rodriguez both needing to be taken out of the game. This led to complete decimation of the Tigers bullpen, with Verlander only lasting one inning, forcing Brad Ausmus to piece together the ballgame, riding his relievers for as long as he could. Overall, they did a good job, outside of a Francisco Rodriguez blown save in the ninth. It led to them having to use Dixon Machado, recently going through the waiver wire, to pitch the final two innings, ultimately giving up the game-winning single to Dustin Ackley in the 14th.

Verlander was diagnosed with a hamstring strain, and is only believed to be out for one day (screw it, I'm probably gonna start him on Sunday). Paco is day-to-day for three days with a blister (he only lasted one batter, wtf?), and Iglesias is day-to-day for seven days with a strained Achilles. Sadly, tomorrow is not an off day. Oh god.

Pre-game
-Tigers send down RPs Joe Jimenez and Paco Rodriguez, call up RPs Drew VerHagen and Blaine Hardy.

AROUND THE LEAGUE
Nothing to report.

The Game

Tigers (21-14) @ Angels (20-17)

Matchup: Greene (2-1, 2.63 ERA) vs. Chavez (3-1, 2.20)

DET - 7 | 14 | 1
LAA - 3 | 8 | 0

W - Greene (3-1)
L - Chavez (3-2)
S - Rodriguez (5)

PoTG: Nick Castellanos (DET)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nobody was injured today, thank god. Shane Greene had an excellent start for the Tigers, holding the Angels to just one earned run in his six innings of work. Nick Castellanos finally got his on-base percentage over .300 after a horrendous April, hitting a three-run homer in a five-run first inning to earn PotG honors.
