Lots of errors lost us this game!

Image
Archie Bradley pitched really well in a spot-start over Vance Worley. He might see more of these starts as the season goes on.

Image
5 innings of 3-run ball isn't the best outing, but it'll work. Oliver Perez closed out the game due to lefty/righty split numbers of the guy batting for Seattle, and we'll see if he continues in that role. He has the lowest ERA out of the bullpen if memory serves correctly.

We had an off-day on July 30th, and since we were doing so well...I thought maybe we could do better.

Continuing in my love of trades in this game, we dealt 30yr old RP David Hernandez (C, 77) and 25yr old RP Matt Stites (C, 65) to the Minnesota Twins for 29yr old 3B Trevor Plouffe (C, 79).

Looking back on it, this trade might not necessarily make perfect sense to you guys...and I'm doubting it a bit myself seeing as how I traded Trumbo so Jake Lamb could get more reps at the plate. But...we'll see where it goes. Plouffe will fill in at the DH role against lefties and righties.

This trade works pretty well especially for the Twins, they get a nice setup guy for Glen Perkins and young reliever who has been performing well at AAA.

Image

After our game against the Astros, we filled the hole in the 'pen we lost by trading Hernandez, by acquiring 31yr old RP Tom Wilhelmsen (C, 80) from the Seattle Mariners for 25yr old SP Allen Webster (B, 73) and 25yr old SS Nick Ahmed. (C, 68)

The Mariners had an abundance of major league quality relievers but were looking for a SS after trading Brad Miller at the deadline.

Image
A good start by Hellickson, but he left early due to arm pain...

Oliver Perez has displaced Addison Reed as our closer for the time-being, it's his job to lose now. Reed has been less than great lately and a change was due.

Image
Wilhelmsen pitched a perfect inning in his Dbacks debut. Good win.

Trevor Plouffe homered in all 3 games against the Astros so that's pretty good lol.

The Trevor Plouffe Trade was genius if you do this I guess:
Yasmany Tomas plays LF
And
Trevor Plouffe plays 3rd base
And Yasmany DHs while Trevor Plouffe plays third.
I don't know if Yasmany will play LF good but it is a thought

Nah, Inciarte and Peralta have both produced great numbers this year in the corner outfield spots, no point in moving them now.

not sure why the giants are so bad, but the dbacks have basically the best offence in the league, either them or the rockies, but our pitching is about the worst in the league, that should change soon.
