We dealt 21yr old C Stryker Trahan (C, 62) for 24yr old 2B Sherman Johnson. (C, 63)

They'll swap spots in AAA as we offloaded a catcher we didn't need while adding to our minor league infield depth.

They currently lead the league in basically every offensive stat.

Yeah I think in real life he plays outfield now, a quick google search shows they shifted him there in 2014. He's listed as a catcher in game though as his primary position and that's where I was playing him.

Right back to playing the Padres after the set against Colorado.

Image
Complete game by Worley! Two solo shots were all the damage they could do as we won our 6th in a row and 9th win out of the last 12.

Image
Josh Collmenter tossed 6 strong, perfect to the 6th until a 3 run shot by Wil Myers who is currently 2nd in MVP voting (Tomas is first) got them the lead. That was all they needed as we scored just 2 runs, even though we had 13 hits.

Image
A combined shutout by the Padres sealed the series victory as they tied the Dbacks for 3rd in the division.

If you're still looking for a young second baseman then I'd go for Odor or Profar on the Rangers, Moncada on the Red Sox, or LaStella on the Cubs (is a 3B in-game but plays much better at 2B and is his natural position IRL). All these guys have at least 86 potential and are stuck behind another player in the depth chart on their respective clubs.

And if you still want a young #3, then I'd say Hahn on the A's, Gausman on the Orioles, any of the Rays' top 5 starters, and Peralta on the Brewers would be your best bets.

Thanks for the ideas! That'll help get my brain thinking when I sit down and really look at this. Chris Owings has been stepping it up lately, so we'll see where we stand in the middle infield department while Villar has been a great grab, he leads the league in stolen bases which is wicked.

We're currently 29th in the MLB in ERA...so we'll be looking to acquire someone like who you mentioned or maybe change up our pitching staff. They have just been inconsistent for the most part while we also lost Collmenter to injury for a month (complete game shutout in his first game back). But Archie Bradley hasn't been able to find his stride and he's been a large problem for the most part, sporting a 5.11 ERA in 37 innings, as well as 22 walks compared to just 26 strikeouts...we'll see.

Right after that Padres series we traded 20yr old SP Jose Martinez (B, 58) to the Chicago White Sox for 22yr old 2B Carlos Sanchez (C, 63).

I felt like we needed more minor league depth in the infield despite already trading for Sherman Johnson while taking away from our deepest position, starting pitching.

Have ya given Ahmed a shot? He's hit really well off the bench for me in an A's 'chise, and I like picking him up for decent contact (70-72ish?)

Yeah but he hasn't done too well this season. He earned a starting spot at the beginning of the season but quickly lost it. He and Pennington have been backing up our two starters just fine, occasionally they'll start to give them a break and he's done well in that role.

Another division series, Rockies after this too. Important games going into the break.

Image
Zach Borenstein and Nick Ahmed were the difference makers today, driving in a piece each while Corbin had a stellar outing, going 8 innings giving up just a run and 5 hits.

Image
Nothing to say in particular.

Image
Another good start by Worley as he went 5 giving up just two runs. He seems to have settled down lately and found his consistency. He leads the team in IP, QS, and K's.

Archie Bradley was optioned down to AAA to find his own, if that makes sense. Rubby De La Rosa up to start on July 3rd against the Rockies.

Mark Trumbo returned, so Borenstein's gonna have to go down to AAA, there's just no room for him.

Image
Josh Collmenter with another complete game, shut them out too. Mark Trumbo drove in two runs in his return from the DL. Good win.

After this game we traded 26yr old SP A.J. Schugel (C, 63) to the Astros for 23yr old 1B Conrad Gregor (C, 62) fills up a need in the minors at 1B seeing as we only had 5 in the whole organization.

Image
Chase Anderson basically started this game. Rubby was pulled after giving up 8 in 2 innings. Anderson didn't surrender a run until the 9th. We need consistency in our 5th starter spot. Worley, Collmenter, Corbin, and Hellickson have been bright spots (for the most part) this season but everyone else we have put in that other starting spot has been dirt, and it's costing us games. We have pitching up the ass though so if anything we don't necessarily need a guy with team control past this season if we choose to make a deal for a starter. A rental could work seeing as how it looks like we could make a good playoff push.

Image
Enrique Burgos pitched 3 shutout innings with 7 strikeouts to finish the game, so that's cool.

Image
Goldy hit a walk-off ya-ya in the bottom of the 10th to give us a series split against the division leaders.

2 game set against the Rangers.

Image
We have the worst ERA in the majors and if it was 10 spots better I think we'd be in a playoff spot now. I trust these guys to give quality outings every day out but the trust is fading.

Image
Ya the defense cost us this game. Collmenter only gave up 1 earned run, but Burgos did cough it up in the 8th.

Facing your Mets in the last series before the allstar break.

Image
De La Rosa had a much better start today! Only giving up 4 hits and 4 runs, but walking 5. The offense really exploded with Goldy going deep twice and driving in 6 runs!

Image
Bullpen blew it.

Image
Lost out going into the all-star break. We need to get out of this recent cold spell. The pitching has been brutal.

Tomas placed 2nd in the HR derby, losing to David Ortiz, and Goldy finished 3rd.
