Bunting is all about where you hit it, speed, and which player picks the ball up to make the throw. If you bunt to 3rd you'll want a left-handed pitcher to pick it up and attempt the toss, it'll take a pinch longer for them to make the turnaround to throw.

A right-handed pitcher is ideal if you are trying to move a player from 2nd to 3rd with a bunt up the first base line. If it's a human opponent they may be fooled to throwing to 3rd which is a harder out than tossing it to 1st to save an advanced base. A computer player may already calculate which will be the safe out, but who knows.

At least in my limited experience with bunting.

I don't bunt enough to really need Gd Small Ball :)

I believe Gd Small Ball is one of those "computer controlled" abilities, it only changes the way the computer controls the player during simulated games.

I agree, bunting for a hit is extremely difficult, esp. drag bunting. I've succesfully push bunted twice, but it's not easy.

The concept is actually pretty much the same as in real baseball... When a bunt shift is on with nobody on, the corners often both charge the line, with the 2B covering first. But to get them to charge, you should square a little earlier than a drag bunt to get them moving.

So there is a hole to the right of the pitcher where the 2B usually is. But it has to be hard enough to get past the pitcher. To be honest, it's easier to an actual push bunt in a live game.

Bunting in this game is difficult it seems, which is one reason I never try it. The other reason being that pitchers seem to have some ability to hit, which is something unusual. In real life pitchers will get a hit every so often, but in MLBPP it seems that even poor hitting pitchers can average about .275.

Usually I just swing away, even in bunt situations, because it seems that I have a better chance of sending a weak liner up the middle than I do of dropping a decent bunt to move a runner.

Or perhaps I just suck at bunting.

sac bunts are all I do as I can't seem to get the ball to go farther than 4 feet from the plate.

Have you tried squaring to bunt with "Big Swing" on? I can almost bunt a groundball to the outfield that way sometimes...

I believe that bunting with Big Swing results in a push bunt, and those usually go far. I've only tried it with a guy who has the bunt master ability, so I don't know whether or not it's a product of the ability or it's always like that.

Big swing bunting always aggressively hits the ball, gd bunt and bunt master are more AI things to sim out if you get the hit or not.

But like abouve, you'll need to push up the correct line, or on the pitching hand side of the pitcher (he'll be falling off the mound the other way) to get the best chance of a base hit.

Another question. I've appreciated all the help so far...

Trying to get BRKUP DBL PLAY" for more than 3 hours now (cumulatively). I know it's documented in the Wiki, but I've been trying to get it by mowing the lawn, but still nothing.

The biggest obstacle is you don't always mow the lawn when you show up for work. Am I doing something wrong? anyone with experience on an easier way of getting it? It's not obtainable through practice during season, either. Thanks again.

it has been shown that having 2 g/f numbers and losing 1 of them will gain this ability (sometimes). This, of course, at the cost of losing 1 girl's ending and a motivation down.

Think I'm 2 for 2 so far when I've Challenged Sarah when she asks me to become a major leaguer. You have to get a couple of random events in Sarah's arc to get there though.

No need to start over. Take the arc all the way through and see what happens. Use the knowledge next time.

No, it's too late for that as I no longer have Sarah's number, unfortunately. Even if I did, I'm in wk 3 of May. I don't know if there'd be enough time left to land her...

Another question...

Anybody know of other ways to get Walk-Off Hitter besides quitting job or Secrets of Hitting? I remember I got it once (not from quitting job), but can't remember the event. Can anyone confirm that quitting your job actually does give Walk off? thanks again, fellas
