How do you get your dad to train with you to learn a custom pitch?

Can I get a detailed explanation?

it seems to only occur through a series of random events where your actions determine whether or not your dad is in a good mood. i'll try to be as detailed as possible, but keep in mind that these can happen at any time, in any order.

1. Your dad's glove: When he asks you to throw it out, saying "no" puts him in a worse mood, saying "yes" might put him in a better mood (i've never done it) using a Marvin card keeps his reaction neutral, using a challenge card puts him in a better mood, but costs you money.

2. Dad's maintenance job: When you meet your dad in the city and he asks you for help, choose either a Marvin card or a Yes card to put him in a better mood.

3. Whenever he says he's going to visit you at school, whether it's to give you money or to borrow money from you, MAKE SURE that you either practice or study that day, otherwise he won't find you and it will put him in a bad mood.

When he finally offers to train you, i think playing a "yes" card will only increase your stats a little, while choosing the Challenge card makes him teach you the pitch.

There are several possible scenes between your dad and the scout as well, so a good scout evaluation might be necessary for these events to happen as well.

Was it ever confirmed what your dad can help you with if you're a fielder? All I ever hear about is the custom pitch.

I've had a fielder get the "tough out" ability from dad's batting practice, but I don't remember if I used a 'yes' or a 'challenge' card.

How many times do I need to get my dad in a better mood to get him to train my pitcher?

What do I do after he offers to train?

At the way beginning when asked to throw out the glove, does anything other than Challenge make him happier?

on further investigation, there's no mood alteration with this event. you just have to make sure the glove doesn't get thrown away. No and Challenge are sure choices here; i don't know if you want to play a Marvin card or not..

All I know is if you play the Marvin card, you get Marvin's Bat in exchange

Unfortunately, Marvin Card doesn't seem to work... I'm through year 2 and he never came back. :(

the dad line still appears horribly random... I remember seeing on another forum that marvin did lead to dad... perhaps you have event lines that have higher % of popping up than dad's line.

I think the reason he's horribly random is because there is so much competition for the Random events. Especially if you're dating Sarah. She tends to occupy quite a few. If you don't date any girls then you might have a better shot at it. I dunno, I'm just spitballing here.

It seems like for me if you get him to come once then his random events start coming in the next few weeks.
