Odawali, does that means, that your last save has to be before the "dad's upgrade" event?

No no no...You can modify your pitch as many times you want. After you're all done you can "buy" back the pitch you originally modified via the ability boost screen. It's really cheap because it's a just pitch type change (same as changing SLD into a CUT for example) and not a pitch Lv upgrade.

As for hacking passwords you're right. You can change abilities/stats in increments and see the effect they have on passwords. But I'll leave that to someone with the patience and ingenuity to crack the code.

I don't think it would be that simple. More than likely the PW is taking into account the player as a whole package. Taking away one ability may only change a handful of characters, but then changing those same characters on another PW probably won't give you that ability.

For instance, Odawali has two PWs for his pitcher; one with a custom pitch and one without. I assume the two PWs have only a few differences between them (actually, for a custom pitch it might be quite a bit of difference), but changing these characters around for another pitcher isn't going to give them the custom pitch that he had with his original pitcher.

I'm not saying it can't be done (anything is possible), but its definitely a huge task that is more complicated then simply comparing a few PWs. If you already figured on it being this complex, then you're definitely hardcore for wanting to take it on.

If someone could hex hack the characters themselves you might find a correlation between password and abilities, but the method on doing that is beyond me.

Yeah, i think Pro Action replay on PS2 saves would be a more preferable method to custom tailor character. No idea how hard that is though.

From personal experience, i did the following upgrades:

*Stronger change up
*Stronger change up
*Stronger change up
*Stronger change up
*Stronger change up
*Less slow down
*Less slow down
*Less slow down
*Less slow down
*Less slow down
*Less slow down

I tested the pitch in game and my fastball was throwing for 85, while my custom pitch was throwing for 77, it also still had a similar break to the level 2 knuckle ball it was originally crafted from. The variables from the page a off, but are still in the right direction, any info anybody can provide about their custom pitch experience would help.

I finally got the custom pitch arc to work for me. Got a nice curve ball and tweaked it three times with dad, pumped it up to a level 5, and tacked a trip to GJ on top of it all. I have now finally done everything with this games Success Mode that I have wanted to.

Now for the next game.

I just got done with a fielder that had a Dad Practice visit.

I used a challenge card when he asked to practice, and got about 15 tech and 15 stam points, also got + Clutch in one of my loads. He may just have a chance of giving a random batting ability. I also never had him revisit in the same way he does for the pitch, so you might as well just avoid him for your fielding players.

Yeeeeeeeeah; I had him visit me and I challenged, but instead of getting points and +Clutch I struck out, lost points, vitality, and motivation.

So in the end I agree, he's a waste of 4/5 random events and time if you go out of your way to stay at home for him to visit.

Thanks for saving me the trouble. I was about to try this but am thinking better of it.

Yeah, best I've gotten from dad as a fielder was +20 in STR and TECH and the "Tough Out" ability. Not really that great.

That's not bad. I'm sure that if you reload, you could get some worthwhile ability - I would guess at something like Refined - which seems to be the only ability that can only be gotten through a book.

Then again, it's not something I'd reload multiple events for.

I always made dad in a better mood and gave or got money from him. He has not shown up yet. I got to get this done before I dive into 08.

It's hard to get him to show up as a fielder. I did everything like normal, but once he trained me the first time, it was like he never showed up again. Even after several reloads.
With a pitcher, just make sure you get the Re's as early as possible. Like back to back. When he shows up to give you money the first time, make sure the very next Re is where he loses his job. That should get the Re's moving the right direction. Then, once you give your pitch a new name, it's almost hard to avoid him showing up.

I have a question about the Original pitch upgrades in the Boost Abilities screen. What does the purchase upgrade?
Would it be upgrading the pitch another training session?
Would it upgrade your "base pitch?"
Would it just make your pitcher look better to have another blinking rectangle?
I've done the upgrade this way numerous times and I was wondering if I was just wasting my time.
