how do you get the training event with Alan/Dad?

I've read the timline and dad 2007 in the wiki but it doesn't tell you what year or when it happens. when does it happen?

Randomly. Once the event where the scout talks to dad on the field it happens randomly after that. Usually 2-3 weeks later.But it can happen at any time.

I've had it happen without any job events at at all but I'm sure they increase your chances.

ok i got the part where alan talks to rudy but it wasn't in the ballpark he never trained me i was a sp to so i don't know um by the way did you happen to make the roster in the first year before the may week 4 game

It doesn't matter because I've had it happen both ways.

1st-Dad is telling some kid about a good deal(at the street) when scout comes and talks to him
2nd-Dad is standing on a baseball field then scout comes and talks to him again
3rd-He comes and asks to train you.

It's not very hard to get though if you just follow the events each time. I've gotten it 7 times out of the 14 times I tried to get it.
