I got a few questions.

Is 11-9 normal in a success mode game?(Yes, I typed that right)

Who's your favorite player on the Tulips? Mine's Mark

Peter is cool but he's a terrible hitter, I've lost many a game because he'd leave a man on because his contact area is the size of a gnat.

I'll go with Robin, because he is one of the better pitchers you can control.

Really?
When I was a pitcher, other than Brad, Peter was my best hitter. Mark was close, but didn't have Peter's power. Maybe I just got lucky. Either way, I think it's much easier offensively to make your own hitter. Even a D contact will seem much better than any of your teammates.
Alvin wasn't that great of a pitcher for me either. I guess I would like Mark more if I wasn't a catcher ...

I don't get it. Why is it that you can't draft anyone one from the Wild Pigs, Commanders, Champion Rings, World Gathering, Tulips, etc. in Season Mode? They are college kids shooting for the majors. I think it would be an interesting twist to the game if this happens in a new edition. Imagine a team with a cheaply paid roster of:

C Patrick
1B Peter
2B Jet
SS Perfect Joe
3B Mars
LF Ultimate
CF Spider
RF Gaia
DH Creek

BC Mark
IF Brad/Rex
OF Milton
OF Marvin

SP Alvin
SP Zero Gibson
SP Robbie
SP Robin
SP Ocean
SP Oscar

RP Perfect - S
RP Toby

I can only dream ...

selfishly, i like Rex and Brad. Rex's glove gives abilities and makes one of the practices much more useful. Brad is just a terrific hitter and can also make strength practice better. in fact, i think both players can make the whole team better at some point in the game.

Peter gets you money on the stock market and ...
Might teach you a new batting stance and ...
Is smart enough to notice Alvin's injury and ...
The easiest way to get a position switch or a stat boost (competition).

Love:
Milton - Won me over with an over-the-fence game-saving catch.
Perfect-S - For choking up so many games to me in the Final. I find it very easy to score off him.
Dr Goodjob - Mad scientist. Nuff said.
Mars (Soldier University) - Killer batting stance.
Zero - Interesting arsenal of pitches. I hate facing him in the game but still a cool character.

Hate:
Spider - For gobbling up so many well-hit balls in the outfield. I also hate Ichiro for the same reason in the SSG.
Robin - The SCREAMING is annoying, plus I hate the random event at the grocery store in which you have to race other customers for the last Powerin.
Alvin - All talk and no play, huge fuss over a stupid knuckler.

My favorite would have to be Mark, he's the perfect choice for team captain following you. The annoying thing - anyone else notice the inconsistency with the end of the game story line? It tells you that Mark went on to become captain of the Tulips, and that if anyone can lead them back to the championship it is him. However, then it says you completed your 4th year, graduated, and are in the minors. That event would have to take place *after* the College Kings tournament, so shouldn't you already know the outcome of the Tulip season rather than speaking about it in the future tense?

My least favorite is easily the guy from Ton-Ton University - the one who says the only way he doesn't have to run is if he hits one out. The first *three* times I got that from him he proceeded to launch one -lol-

I wish the role players were more consistent with the names.

Sometimes there's Vorsberg, Munhall, Stratton, etc.

Also, sometimes those names end up on opposing teams as well.

My new favorite is the guy from the Think Tank University Tech Brains.
My favorite game is always the first.

I'd have to agree on the role players not being consistent. It doesn't do a lot of good to say Buchanan and Rolls are pretty decent pitching options when they aren't always there.

Rolls is second baseman for my team.

zero is far better than alvin. thats why its better to face alvin in the finals than zero.

Robin is incredibly good( better than alvin when he was a first year).

Is it just me, or does everyone else just completely ditch anything but the fastball and "downward" pitch?

Using the Goggles - I know it's cheap - all I need is a breaking pitch and a non-breaking pitch (fastball). That's why I love Robin, too. His fastball is better than Alvin's and a lvl 1 changeup is probably better than lvl 2 other pitches. But Alvin's knuckler is pretty sweet. That S Shaker makes me wish he had it for the Tulips.

Yeah, provided you use goggles that works better especially while your character is weak.

I'd even say that in some instances it's better not to have a horizontal pitch than to have one - a 2CHG only is easier to handle in success mode than a 2CHG+3SLD pitcher. In the latter case even if you out-guess a hitter sitting on a breaking ball and throw a fastball, he could still make contact if he was guessing slider.

That's why I tend to upgrade horizontal pitches last, if at all.

Personally, I'm a Marvin fan, based purely on his success mode wackiness.
I really haven't played enough success modes to have a solid opinion on my teammates based on skill, per se.

I just find myself laughing like a loon everytime Marvin gets involved in a scene, especially if it's because I've played a "Marvin" card.
