So, what I usually do is start success and if my stats starting out aren't up to my level I quit. But I found out that this takes so long and I havnt even started yet?
So I was wondering what you guys like to start off as? I know you Like geniuses but I usually settle for someone less.
The stats I usually Start with=
BATTERS
Trj- at least 2
Con- at least 3
Pwr- at least 70
Run spd- at least 4
All fielding stats should be around 3-4
PITCHERS
Top Speed- 82-83
Cntrl-110
Stam- 45
Please help me ( all the people who make close to maxes guys ) what you like to start out as?

Batters can start out with 2 TRJ?

I usually just take what I'm given and go, but yours listings pretty much embody the stats I like to have at the beginning. Maybe a bit higher SPD and lower power.

Usually I try to get a pitcher with a higher top speed so I don't have to upgrade it later. Otherwise I'll forget till the end and have an ace with B control, A stamina, some good breaking pitches - and an 85 mph fastball.

All my pitchers have slow fastballs (around 85-89). It doesn't really matter as long as you can change speeds well.

I find that human players have more trouble with slower pitchers anyway. Unless you're using some 105mph Gyroballer, but even then, they can time it pretty well by the 5th or 6th inning.

My '07 pitchers were all pretty slow. I think I had maybe 3 or 4 out of the over 50 I made that breached 90. Most were middle to low 80s.

If I get TRJ 2 at the start I'm happy. What I'm wondering about is when to upgrade points. By the time I finish Success mode I have 500 exp points in every category, but can never get the stats I planned for. When should I upgrade my stats?

Well you should be upgrading as you go, so that your game results are better, thus producing more points.

Well you should be upgrading as you go, so that your game results are better, thus producing more points.

In addition to that, upgrade right before games so you can see how much training you put in over that month.

To go back to starting stats, I have lower standards, due in part to my lower patience.

Usually I take this for batters:

TRJ-1
Con-1
PWR-50
Run-Depends on who I'm making...usually 3-4.
Fld- 3
Arm-See Run
E Res: MUST be at least 3.

And for pitchers:

Top SPD: I like at least 80, however I did finish one pitcher with a 75 top speed once.
Ctrl-Ryne Duren didn't care, neither do I. (Then again, Duren was a alcoholic, right? Still a decent pitcher though...)
Stam-Depends. Relievers are around 45, Starters at least 50.
