Post subject:  Things that SHOCKED you in success mode (SPOILERS)
half of the fun of success mode is its seemingly endless amount of possibilities. with so little of this game mapped out, there are always one or two things happening in my games that I've never even heard of happening.

This thread is for us to share stories of moments in the game that were surprising in one way or another. See a random event that you'd never heard of? had something bizarre happen in a game? post it here!THESE MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS, so be warned.

Anyway, I was playing earlier today, trying to finally date Becky by making Alvin leave the team. I became captain in the second year, which made toby and eventually alvin leave the team. I was left with a bunch of scrubs until Mark, Brad and Robin joined my team.

SHOCKING MOMENT #1:
I'm in the 9th innning against the commanders, trailing 3-1, proud of myself for even beating ever-victory university with my team of chumps. there are two outs, with marvin on third and.. some guy on first. Robin is at the plate. the pitcher lobs in a change-up, and robin cranks a game-winning homerun (not a walk-off, as it was the top of the 9th, but still!). Before this point, I had never had any of the Tulips other than my character hit a homerun. to have it come at such a great time was icing on the cake.

SHOCKING MOMENT #2:
carrying on with my career, I wind up in the finals against the champion rings in the third year, when Alvin shows up again. WEARING A CHAMPION RINGS UNIFORM. I was floored. Him AND Zero on the same team? I'm dead. As captain, the first 7 innings were simulated, with my team taking a 3-2 lead(!). When I gain control in the top of the 8th, Alvin is pitching. He's got some pitch called "S SHAKER," which is apparently the exact same as the mirage knuckler. nothing too good. I eventually laid waste to them and as zero tried to berate my team even more after we beat him, alvin quickly put him in his place. Funny stuff.
of course, I went on to get murdered by the all-stars, thus avoiding a potential SHOCKING MOMENT #3. I still think it's impossible to beat the all stars.

My first shocking moment was when my first success mode character was offered a contract. His stats and abilities were AWFUL :lol:

My next shocking moment will probably be if my dad ever decides to train me.

The most shocking moment I have had was at the end of one success mode, not only did I get drafted, but so did Marvin!

The biggest surprise for me was when Mark batted in the winning run for me against the World Gatherings and the Wild Pigs

my biggest surprise is a 9 run 9th again the muscle team down 2-1 and won 10-3

The superstar game is possible - I've beaten with my past 3 characters. I repeat from previous posts - use psychic goggles and rookie charm. I had reset a lot of times though. The easiest ways to win - get a dominant starter or a power hitter who can crank home runs every at-bat.

I usually put together two innings of rally hitting getting about 2-3 runs. That's usually enough.

i came back twice on the same pitch one out from losing the game to win 3-2 both times

Things I found shocking the first time I came across them in success mode (that haven't already been mentioned):

* Called Sarah for a date with my very first player (not on Christmas/Valentine's, this was just random), and got the rejection "Sarah doesn't like you anymore, you'll probably never call her again."

* Having a $350 wood bat get sawed off by Perfect S (which in turn caused me to lose the stats bonus I was getting from the bat).

* The whole "Powerin" thing given the current climate surrounding PEDs in baseball :D

* Finding out dad was a former top prospect - wish that story line would have been fleshed out further.

* The ghost kid - creepy

* Having Marvin drop a routine fly ball (error), which allowed the tying and winning runs to score with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th.

* Throwing a no-hitter against the Champion Rings in season 2 while simultaneously being no-hit by Ocean, getting the "we lost the rematch" message, and then having the scout give me the "do you care at all about the game? What a let down!" scolding (I'd used a challenge card before the game).

Out of nowhere my player found $13 in his pocket - few weeks into year 1 - no pot-of-gold necklace or anything.

i got dr.k ability from the professior then the ace stud glove from the thief the week after

Ichiro robbed my character of a homer in the Super Star Game. Grrr...

However, that wasn't as surprising as Milton making an over-the-fence catch to rob the opponent of a homer :D
