it's seems to be about 50 50 getting a 3 inn save.

J-Gao you can't get both a win and a save and you can't be the starting picher

Yeah, I read the official rules, and it seems you guys are right, indeed. Darn, and I thought I knew a lot about baseball.

Wow, I never knew you could pitch 3 innings and get a save. I remember a few games ago Michael Kay (Announcer) had said a reliever had gotten a save and I thought he made a mistake. I was just talking about that game and realized the pitcher pitched 3 innings.

I haven't played many season games, a total of 10 right now. I have created 3 save opportunities for myself by pitching a pitcher 3 innings to end the game, but only 1 of them has lead to a save.

Has anyone figured out the trigger for not getting a 3 inning save?

I think I have already tried "Closer" title versus "Reliever", although, one of the closers wasn't listed as a closer in the rotation. The only one that has got a save, I believe is the closer in the rotation. Although I could be grasping for straws here.

Any help would be much appreciated.

The "Save" trigger is buggy, hands out plenty more false negatives than anything.

Hopefully, they'll fix it in 2008.

it seems to follow the basic rules of saves

1. He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his team
2. He is not the winning pitcher
3. He is credited with at least ⅓ of an inning pitched
4. He satisfies one of the following conditions:
1. He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at least one inning
2. He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential tying run either on base, at bat or on deck
3. He pitches for at least three innings

Neal Cotts didn't earn the save in my Cubbies Season when he pitched the last 3 innings of the game, I do hope they fix the save stat in 2008.

I think I had this happen to me before, but didn't really pay attention to it, but Carlos Marmol should have gotten a save in a game and didn't.

Could it be that the reason for not getting credited with a save isn't only the title that the pitcher has, but also the role that you have the pitcher listed as? Or does the assigned role affect his title?

It is possible that swing men don't get saves. But relievers and closers have been proved to get saves.

I have also had Saves not register for me a few times.

One of the recent times I had Bruce Chen pitch out the 7,8 and 9nth innings with what if i remember correctly was a 1 run lead. 5-4 WIN. My starter got the win but Chen DID NOT get the save. :(

If im correct he should have gotten it under these conditions...

I wonder if the SAVE BUG still exists in MLBPP 2008? Does anyone know if it is still occuring in MLBPP 2008?

I own it but do not prefer it over 2007 so therefore have not played it much at all...
