Decent meaning close to RL?

Depends on your playing style/skills

I'm currently using

Expert for all computer abilities (running,pitch,batting,fielding,etc...)
A-mode (more reliable than B-mode w/ GC controller ><")

Expert pitching mode
Show breaking ball (i tend to forget what my pitcher is capable of: "the pitcher is shaking off that sign")

Batting, since i blow at batting...
Normal batting mode (none of that lock-on)
Ball shown
Ball moves with pitch and spin

I started a league using all star for all computer modes and a lock on batting of 2. So far it's working fairly well but I'm hitting a few too many homers. I may lower it to lock on 1

The main setting that I have changed so far is turning off the announcer, because he is loud and gets half the calls wrong anyway.

You ain't kidding, I turned him off as well -lol-

It is hard to recommend gameplay settings because it depends on your skill as a player. For me, I have the CPU on All-Star level and lock-on 5, and myself with normal batting (no lock-on), semi-auto running (control the lead runner, I hate the baserunning in this game), and expert pitching. That creates a competitive game for me, which keeps things interesting. I quickly get bored always winning blowouts.
