But... terrible defense at a position that is an important one and he's slow. I would rather have Joe Mauer.

I traded for him then trained him up to a A contact, 4 TRJ, A power, D speed, A arm, B field, A e res. Amazing what practice can do.

well, I wouldn't consider him the best, but Scott Rolen has 3 A's, power, fielding, and arm str.
The problem about trading A-Rod for Miguel Cabrera is that He's a CONTACT hitter and won't get as much homeruns. Omar Vizquel has A fielding and arm str, but C power, C contact.

That isn't a problem for me because I feel power is very overrated and in this game it usually comes with horrible a BA. It's not like a-rod is going to be going .300 with 50 HR in this game.

yea thats true power is the most overrated stat in terms of hitting for instance i was playing in season mode as the red sox and ortiz hit 30 HR's in about 20 sim games

True, but on a bad expansion team, he makes a good DH.

Mauer gets expensive, though. McCann didn't really have his salary get much over 1000 for 9 of the 10 seasons - and by then, it's real easy to train up a catcher from the draft.

McCann is the best bargain catcher in the game, for his stats/price.

Perzinski (spelling, the whitesox catcher), is the only catcher i could find with the 'Trash Talk' ability, he's probably up there as the most helpful pitcher's catcher.

Giambi for first/DH. He is way over-powered and can hit well over 100 home runs a season on normal mode. Plus, with a little training, he can be an OK fielder. I used my success mode Lou Gherig (with blue hair of course) as a first base man with the Yanks and Giambia as a DH as Lou has the ability "Golden Glover". He still have D arm strength, E fielding, and C fielding error because I thought none of those mattered after golden glover. Hey, it was my first guy.

For 3B I think it is Zimmerman from Washington.

con--C
Pwr--B
run--c
arm--b
field--c
er res--b
traj--3

A very solid player with a good arm for 3b. add in the fact that he is only 23? and you have a long term solution at 3b. i always pick him up and he normally hits: 280avg 20+hr 80rbi he is solted in at 4 or 5, 6 the slowest, on my roster.

Ichiro is a very good player. If you look past his salary, his stats BARELY deplete over the 10 years.
If I was going to choose a team based on high stats with no player improvement-

SP-C.C Sabathia
SP-Roy Halladay
SP-Chien Ming Wang
SP-Hamels
SP-Randy Johnson
SM-Success mode player
LR-Success mode player
MR-Scott Proctor
MR-Jenson Davis
MR-Success mode player
SM-Hideki Okajima
CL-Takashi Saito

Fielders
C-Brian Mcann
C-Kelly Shoppach
DH-Ryan Howard
1B-Lance Berkman
2B-Robinson Cano
3B-Alex Rodriguez (Or, if too expensive, trade for Miguel Cabrera)
SS-Micheal Young/Jimmy Rollins/Omar Visquel
IF-Ryan Garko
LF-Carlos Lee
CF-Ichiro Suzuki
RF-Andruw Jones
OF-Ben Francisco

Personaly I like Ryan Freel he is a good starter or if you don't need a starter he can play just about anywhere hes fast with good fielding and arm strength not too old either he would last about 3-5 years without depletion

As good as Lance Berkman is, again I have to stress how perfect Giambi is for homers. Literally you can get a home-run with him 1/3-1/2 of the time. It's unbelievable. I tried playing a game with him on powerful mode and the homers still came (I'm on All-star mode with my success team. I wish they'd let you switch levels in mid-season because I'm winning 95% of my games).

True, but when simulated Giambi goes .200 with 30 homers.
Mccan is erratic-he'll either hit 13 homers with a .278 or 23 with .290.
I had Scott Proctor get 18 wins once.
Howard isn't good simulated....he went .275 with 37 homers...
Andruw Jones had a lower BA but more hr's and RBI's.
