I'm curious. I've given it to several of my pitchers, and i would assume it's a better version of "Poker Face" since they're in the same spot. But i'm not sure.

I think battler only shows your guy panting or when hes sweating and just about to start panting, at least thats been my experience with it.

Pokerface and Battler are exact opposites. Because they occupy the same location on the stat sheet, means they are mutually exclusive (you can never have both).

A Pokerface pitcher will show zero emotion or fatigue until he's close to the exhaustion point.

A Battler will show lots of emotion in situations. For example, striking out batter to end inning he'll throw a fist pump, or if he gives up a hit, he'll kick the ground in disgust.

So battler is something that guys like K-Rod should have.

Johnson and some other guy on the D-Backs (Go figure) are the only guys that have it. I agree more people such as K-Rod should have it.

Battler has the following effects when pitching with either a lead or in a tie game with 2 or less ER:
-Immunity to hitters' Intimidator
-Weaker variant of Groundball P
-Weaker variant of Poise 4

Your pitcher loses these effects if they are knocked around and see stars. Also, as noted above, he does the exaggerated fist pump when he gets the final out of an inning with a strikeout.

Thank you. I always noticed the fist pump, but never could tell exactly what else battler was doing for me.

I forgot to add my last post is second hand information from a Japanese BBS, but it's quoting a developer's interview on a gaming magazine, so I think it's legit.

I'd also heard rumors that after doing the fist pump, the pitcher uses less stamina per pitch ("pitching on adrenaline"), but that part wasn't confirmed. If I mentioned that before on this board, I could have been wrong =P

Or Joba. K-Rod is overpowered in 2008 with Intimidator and Dr.K. I agree on Dr.K, but not intimidator.

Totally agree. KRod is more of a Battler than Intimidator.
