Is it possible to win this insanely one-sided game? Has anyone accomplished the task?

Its been done. You don't get anything special; just extra points for stat upgrades.

I've beaten it 3-4 times. It's easiest with your own power hitter and Alvin/Robin. And of course, my trademark Rookie Charm and Psychic Goggles.

If your power hitter (A) gets up to bat 4 times, then you should be able to get 4 runs at the least. Fastball/down pitch combo always works for me because I just do whatever the batter isn't thinking.

If you're really desperate and have the Goggles, keep pausing the game until the pitcher is thinking of throwing a 4SFB. Those are much easier to hit.

For me it is impossible because of the dancing pitching cursor. It'd almost be easier if the pitch cursor wasn't there, because it is little more than a distraction while batting.

Then again, I almost always beat the Champion Rings in both year 2 and year 3, and I understand that if you beat them in year 2 that the dream matchup game is even harder.

Most runs I've ever scored in the dream matchup is 3, and I've never homered off of Peavy or Martinez in those games. I've had a few 1 run losses to them, but never won.

Unless my own character is hitting, I always aim to get on base via HBP. It's pretty easy to do with a LHB vs Peavy or Martinez who have pitches that break in toward them. I only attempt hitting after two strikes or a runner on 2B with a good chance of getting a hit.

On the pitching side always pick runners off at 1B if you can do so. You will eventually catch runners (even the slow ones like Manny) leaning if you do it enough times.

how do you get a HBP so often?

I think my "cheating" is a little better because it generates hits that can advance batters more, although getting a HBP every time may be consistent. With Psychic Goggles, you can see what the pitcher is thinking of throwing (most of the time). Almost every time you pause, the pitch will change. When I really need runs to tie or break a tie, I do this until the pitcher will throw a fastball, which is quite easy to get a single off of.

With the cursor, and knowing the pitcher's pitch types, you can predict an inside pitch and slam the batter inside in hope that he gets smacked ("Oh, that's gotta hurt."<- only time announcer is funny is when ppl get hurt).

I don't prep the bat in advance, unless i have a gut feeling he's coming inside, I wait for the motion then move the bat and swing. You do lose out on a little bit of power, but it's negligible.

I'm actually doing ... a bit below Mendosa line batting without cursors at all, which I consider not bad for what it's worth.

Yeah, that about sums it up.... it makes a HUGE difference. I never used it because I didn't want to miss out on the extra exp pts and I was hitting well enough to beat everyone else. I decided to give it a go and wouldn't you know I beat them 7-3 with a few HRs (even one by Peter!). I try to go the season without it and pick one up at Bison's shop close to the end.

Man I must have bought the Wii version that gives me uber-gimp Peter. He's a good fielder but keep the man off of the plate!

Same here. Peter is terrible at the plate for me. I can only hit homes runs with the character I create.

I played the AS game last night for the first time with the Charm and the Goggles and lost 2-0, but I could actually hit the ball consistently. If I had been using a HR masher for a character and not a singles hitter I probably would have won the game easily.

Rex and Milton always seem to hit well for me.

I actually find stringing together hits and "manufacturing runs" is the best way for me to put runs on the board. If I can get into a groove, I can rattle of 6 hits this way, which is why my SuperStars games are slugfests with scores well into the upper 10s and even 20s, despite 0 HRs on my side.

Pitching, I start the less potential guys first, give them 1+ innings and grab a reliever, leaving Alvin and Robin as my setup/closer combo who I've had the best bet with getting the side out without being scored on. I don't even give the guys a chance to get "tired".

I will try that method next time I get around to that game. I am convinced it will work.
