Have any of you ever had any injuries that require more than just a 15-Day DL? Im into my 2nd season and have only had 1-2 15-Day DL requests... Have any of you had different experiences?

I had a catcher go out three months with a broken neck. Everything else took 2 weeks.

I've only ever had 15-Day DL. Not so much in 2007, but a lot in 2008.

So then it is confirmed of longer DL requests existing? 30, 60 and even 90 day DL requests? Do one and three month DL requests exist?

Off the Wiki...

General guidelines
Players are placed on either the 15-day or the 60-day disabled list, usually depending on the severity and/or recovery time of the injury. A player may be shifted from the 15-day to the 60-day DL at any time, but not vice-versa. The player may not rejoin the team until 15 or 60 days has elapsed; however, a player's time on the DL may exceed the specified number of days. The 15-day DL does not count the player on the active roster (comprising the 25-man roster until September 1st), whereas the 60-day DL does not require the player to be counted on either the team's active roster or its 40-man roster.[1] By placing a player on the disabled list, a spot on the active roster is made available. Another player from the minor leagues, free agent pool, a traded player, or a recovered player coming off the disabled list may be used to fill this spot.

Players may be put on the DL at a date retroactive to the last day they played. This allows a team to avoid being penalized because it avoids the disadvantage of playing with a reduced roster. Retroactive placement may be made at most 10 days after the time of injury.[2] When a player is listed as day-to-day before being placed on the disabled list, it therefore may pinpoint the date of the injury.

A team may keep an injured player on the roster but keep him listed as day-to-day to indicate that the medical staff is unable to determine when the player can resume normal playing activities again. If the injury turns out to be minor, then the player may resume playing without having to wait to come off the disabled list.

Players recovering from an injury may appear in a limited number of minor league games while still on the disabled list in order to prepare for reactivation. Non-pitchers may stay in the minor league club for up to 20 days; pitchers for up to 30 days[3].

In my second season, Carl Crawford was green, injured all season. It didnt show up a reason under the injuries list or anything. He could play but h was automatically taken out of the starting lineup. Now in my third season he's still injured... Any idea whats up?

thats a glitch.

It happened to me in '07 with Chein Ming Wang.

Pitching the last out of the series, then bang, elbow pain.
Never healed in the offseason or the regular season.

Um, why would anybody put a player on the 15 day DL? 60 is divisible by 15, so it makes no sense. Why not just put them on the 15 day DL a bunch of times? That way, if he heals early, you don't have to wait as long. Just a thought.

I'm assuming you meant the 60-day DL, and in real life.

For starters, nobody gets assigned to the 15-day DL multiple times. Once you are on the DL, you must stay there a minimum of 15 days, but you can come off anytime after that.

Now there's a very important reason for getting transferred to the 60-day DL. It frees up a spot on the 40-man roster. (This is akin to how guys on the 15-day DL are not counted on the 25-man roster.)

Let's say you had a guy on the 15-day DL for more than 15 days already and you thought or knew he was going to be out for a long time (for Tommy John surgery, for example). You would want to transfer him to the 60-day DL so that you could add a newly acquired major leaguer (by trade or free agent signing) to your 40-man roster.

The other major reason for needing a spot on the 40-man roster is the Rule 5 draft in December. If you want to protect a minor leaguer (with a certain number of years of service) from being picked, he needs to be on the 40-man roster. On the flipside, if you draft an unprotected player from another team, he needs to be added to the 25-man roster and kept there through the end of the following season.
