Post subject:  F/A Negotiations ?

I could never get a player at the end of the year with the two day's of free agent negotiations. I pick a player I want then I see the suggest salary and the suggest years and hit ok. I looks like a message was sent to the player but I don't get him at all. Then I load and do it again then offer him a larger salary with the less years and still they don't take my deal. Why is this? is it because I have great players already or is it just because my team won the world championship? I reset this over and over and never get one player to come to my team. I offered the max once and still no bite. Please let me know what is going on. thanks.

Try offering a 1 year contract. After going your route and having no luck I tried it and it worked. I guess in some circumstances a multi-year deal is seen as a negative; they can continue to get better contracts as long as they improve.

As for the game giving wrong suggested years; just another area to add to the long list of things they should fix before the next game.

Usually, just go with what he wants.

In the info under the requested salary, it states how many teams are scheduled for negotiations. Go for the guys that have a 0 there. You can go with a smaller deal and still get him. If 2-4 teams are scheduled, then you'll at least have to match it.

Also, long deals are seen as negatives for younger guys. Don't know about old guys because I've ever tried.

with older guys, a 5 year deal is good. I can get guys 33+ years old on 5 year deals since they start to decline rapidly at 35. When they do, just trade him for a scrub or 1 point.

I just add one thousand dollars to his contract and he automaticly is on my team pretty much.
