I do alot of browsing for trades and I wanted to share some good players you might be able to steal for your season!

They are based on the default rosters for player teams that I list.

Ohman (Cubs) / Salary: 1250 / Lefty with 4 Fastball life, 4 Recovery, and a 4 vs. Leftys. May be the only left reliever in the game that is a 4 vs Leftys!

Thames (Tigers) / Salary: 430 / 8 Con, 178 Pwr, 9 Fld RF/LF (4 in second position) and is a Tough out, Push-Pull Hitter.

Harris (Rays) / Sal: 380 / Rookie, righty / 5 Con, 99 Pwr, 9 Fld, 10 Arm. BUT can play 2B, 3B, SS, is an F at 1B and is a 5 vs. Lefty Pitching!

Ryu (Rays) / Sal: 380 / 101 Ctrl, 91 Sta, Righty Reliver is a 4 with RISP and has a 4 Flastball Life. Has a 2 spin but teach him Gyroball and he will be fine.

Wigginton (Rays) / Sal: 2700 / Righty 3B, 2B, 1B, is an E at SS with a 4 in Second position / 8 Con, 177 Pwr, 9 Fld, 8 Arm, good in rain, pull hitter.

Just a few cheap add ons for your team!

Ryan Howard comes pretty cheaply, too. I added him in the 2nd year, kept him, trained him up to nearly all A's (except for run speed), and his salary never exceeded three digits.

I found Jake Peavy on the FA list for about 800. Same thing with Wang from NYY. As the years go by there always seems to be one or two really awesome players for minor league salaries. The salaries for Success Mode players that own really start to add up after a couple of years. My payroll doubled from 75K to over 150K by the end just because it got so expensive to keep these guys on the team.

Trying to hit off your guy after he signs with another team is hard when he has 3+ pitches at a 7 rank and 105FB, plus all the abilities!

Ok, if you have a player who (in my case was Jared Washburn) is costly but isn't performing...trade 4 Tim Wakefield!!!! Wicked Knuckleball, a faster curveball that (at first) looks like a knuckleball and a fastball that looks like it HAS to drop, but goes straight as an arrow! So you can throw a KN as high as possible and drop to be a strike and then throw a very, VERY high FB they will swing in a paranoid fashion. Plus he's got very high stamina and doesn't have to throw many pitches! his payroll is around 4300. But if you have Washburn who you have to pay 9500....The choice is easy...
(wakefield he's with the redsox
([assuming everyone doesn't already know that]) :)

Rocco Baldeli is a cheap pickup. he's a little over 1000. 9 Con, B power, B Run, B Arm, and his fielding is decent. He's been effective for me.

Problem about that, cascadia, is if you turn player improvement on he'll be terrible the next year....
Robinson Cano is pretty cheap, now that I remember.

Wang - Yankees (SP)
Izturis - Angels (SS)
Ryan - Phillies (1B)
Saunders - Angels (SP)

Are bargains with close to or less then 1,000 salary.

Hernandez, Duke, Sanchez, Cain, and Hamels are all very cheap starters; none higher than 650. Some of them are practically aces, and are young and become insanely powerful by the end of season mode.

There are a LOT of good fielders for cheap if you look through the search function a bit. Some like Howard and Cano as mentioned are even powerful batters in addition to being good fielders.

Most good cheap players will still get sort of expensive later on as their season performances improve, but it does save you a lot of money early on and are still quite a lot cheaper than ripoffs like Jeter, so they're nice to have around. And if you're doing dream draft...you're going to have one helluva cheap and effective team.
