Post subject:  Two great trades and team lineup...

I've just finished my second season as the Red Sox and had a great time trading away most
of the higher $$$ players for younger, cheaper and often times, more skilled players. In the
first season, I played using only the default team, some F/As and the draft. Whereas in the
second season, I had decided early on that it was going to be a learning experience... I took
the time to make trades that kept the team highly competitive during season, as well planning
for my upcoming third season (which I started last night). I recorded all of my trades, but
I think the two that exemplify the careful planning were with the Twins and the Phillies. I
was able to trade away Manny Ramirez for Jason Bay, Jason Bartlett and Joe Mauer, who
were all just a fraction of Manny's contract. In addition, knowing that I was going to have
to get rid of Big Papi to save $$$, I began looking for a power hitting 1st basemen. It was
unbelievable to see that Ryan Howard was somewhere around 500 points! Since it was
getting close to the trading deadline, I had only two players left that I wanted to get rid of,
Kason Gabbard and a generic infield draft pick. The trade for Howard alone was only one star.
Then, for the heck of it, I also selected Cole Hamels' name and it was still a one star trade. I
went ahead submitted it, and it was accepted! Below is my starting line up for my third season...
My bench guys include Wigginton, Mccann, Ethier and Maicer Izturis. This doesn't name my
pitching staff or the AAA guys, which are just as good or in training to become so. All of this,
saw my Total salary go from +140,000 to just over 84,000!!!! Thanks for looking!

Adrian Gonzalez (1B)
Orlando Hudson (2B)
Jason Bartlett (SS)
Ryan Zimmerman (3B)
Joe Mauer (C)
Carl Crawford (CF)
Jason Bay (LF)
Jeff Francoeur (RF)
Ryan Howard (DH)

All that is left of the original '07 lineup are in my pitching staff:

Beckett
Matsuzaka
Lester
Wakefield
Okajima
Rosario
Delcarmen

I just traded Papelbon to the A's for Huston Street and Nick Swisher. He wanted
2000 up from 390! Wakefield will be going bye-bye soon. He's had major skill loss
due to his age... His Stam fell from A to B and his Knuckleball went from a 6 to 5
for the second time! Lester learned the knuckleball in Spring training, so I'm going
to see if I can get them to practice together before I trade him away...

Off the top of my head, my pitchers include:

Zach Duke
Cole Hamels
Josh Johnson
Tomo Ohka
Jonathan Broxton
Francisco Liriano
Huston Street (just added)

Not bad, definitely a contending team.

Thanks Bobby! Oh how nice things would be if only the Mets could trade like that...

Yeah....

but not Howard or Hamels. No Phillies. Give me Prince Fielder and, uh.... I can't think of a comparable young lefty ace right now. But give me him instead. :P

May I suggest Jon Lester? Or Wandy Rodriguez? Or even Clayton Kershaw?

Yeah I'll take Jon Lester. Rodriguez's career has not been that great and Kershaw is just a rookie so Lester is the most proven.
