Hello all,

I've been training a player in Cannon Arm during the season and at the end of my last game, the level up sounded for this player along with the Cannon Arm progress bar returning to zero. When I check out the player's abilities, Cannon Arm was not one of them. Is it possible to "fail" technique training? Are there levels to Cannon Arm?

Thanks in advance!!!

I think things like new techniques and new breaking pitches can fail, I've never actually been that close to getting one, so haven't personally confirmed it, but everyone else who has says they can fail. They also say that's why they save when the bar is almost full so they can reload if it fails.

Would training with another player with Cannon help reduce the chances of failed training?

Yes, you can fail it.

I can't say for sure that training with a player that already has the ability helps, but it seems like it ought to. Don't forget that older players also have a higher chance of failure than younger ones.

But, if you remember from the introductionary text of Season Mode, if you become friends with a player that has the ability you want, there's a higher chance he can help you learn it.

Some abilities have a ridiculously low chance of success. I'm trying to learn Gyroball and have someone at the highest level of friendship with it in 08 leading him, and it's failed the last 20 times, I'm still trying.
