I was able to do this with the Giants and it's likely possible with other season teams as well.

Look over your roster and find guys who are making a decent chunk of change for a few year, but not really part of your future. Go to the trade search and look up similarly priced players, but ones that will hit free agency in one year. In my case, I was able to deal Matt Morris (9000 with 2 years left), Steve Kline (1700), and a decent young pitcher around 400 for Matt Clement (9000 but 1 year from FA), Gabbard (cheap LH - 380ish salary), Declarman (around 400 and has a power arm), and 3000 points. When proposed, it had 3 stars.

The thinking is that you are getting a similar player, but only have to pay them for one year instead of 2 or more. This frees up funds to stave off bankruptcy or to be active in free agency.

Hope this is helpful to some people.

I love this game. I've told a buddy, it's like RBI for 2008.

Great forum with tons of info.

I found A decent way to get money is also sign a gd free agent or maybe use one of your own players who is making too much and playing bad is to trade them for cash

I got a bunch of great players from Wyl. so i took a bunch of players that were in my line up and put them down in AAA. so then i traded them for lots and lots of money.

I'm warning you, don't trade them to the yankees/redsox/mets/any good team. But marlins/giants/royals/any bad team would be great.
