Las Vegas lost to drop its record to 1-1 on the season as its only run support was from Brandon Hicks's 5th-inning RBI single. Starter Ivan Nova, who allowed a home run and 3 runs on 9 hits in 6 innings, said he needed to work on his fastball, because his velocity was only in the high-70s today.

OK. Heyward and Nova it is.

(You know how the agent thing works, right?)

And That's the Ballgame!

LineDrives 6, Cubs 4

W: Lyles (1-0)

Today's game was an exciting one. Scott Sizemore hit his second home run of the year (a solo shot) in the 2nd inning. In the 4th, Drew Stubbs hit his first sac fly to give Las Vegas a 2-1 lead. The next inning, Jason Heyward drove in two runs, including the go-ahead one, with a triple. Stubbs then drove him in with his second sac fly. In the 6th, reliever Jeff Karstens entered for Chicago. After getting Andy Dirks out, Mark Trumbo (who was 0-for-9 thus far) came up. He then hit a solo homer for his first hit of the season.

Chapman (-) 2 IP, 15 PT, 3 H, 2 R (2 ER), 1 K
Walden (S) 1 1/3 IP, 10 PT

Manager Terry Francona said that "this game was strange in that Jordan (Walden) had to get four outs". "Tito" also said that he wanted to get lefty workhorse Aroldis Chapman a day of rest somewhere in the next few days. "We still have Ryan (Perry) and Grant (Balfour) who we haven't used yet.

GM Peter Smith said that "we haven't used Perry or Balfour yet because of the Cubs' righty-loaded lineup."

Heyward in the postgame interview:
Reporter: Jason, another great game! There have been rumors floating around that you could be the captain of the team. You seem like a great player and leader for years to come. How do you respond to that?

Heyward: If those rumors are true, I would gladly take the position. Before you leave, I have a messege for all oher teams: Get ready, the Line-Drives are comin'.
