Getting these is easy if you're playing the game.... but if you're simulating it - how on earth do you go about getting them? I've got some sweet pitchers that I made in Success mode but they can't get a Quality Start to save their lives. Even Tom Glavine can't do it...

70 games into the season and only 2 quality starts total between *all* my pitchers. What on earth am I doing wrong? All the other teams in the league have tons of them.

Needless to say this is costing me a lot of games and my relief pitchers are a mess because they have to pitch so much.

Glavine's not exactly a young chicken, and doesn't exactly mean he's the issue.

t's possible that your 5 man rotation is not fully recovering from their previous starts. This will greatly reduce their effectiveness the next time out.

Many have suggested a 6 man rotation, they use it in Japan as it seems the days of the 4 man rotation is long gone (minus playoffs). Remember, this is a US port of a Japanese game, so it's slightly skewed to their style of play.

I've gotten a 5 man to work with the LA Dodgers (Penny, Lowe, Billingsley, Schmidt, and Tomko), I sometimes swap starts in order to keep Penny and Billingsley more rest time as they power the ball more and require more rest. But, of course, I'm playing each one out.

That's the thing though.... I *am* using a 6 man rotation. :( They're all fully rested when they go in.... then they get pulled after 2 and 1/3 innings. Heck it happens on the first game of the season! Pre-season too!

Ya, things totally change when you actually play each game out. It's a *very* different story. My boys will last a good 7 innings easily with me playing. 8 if I can really keep the pitch count down. It's when you simulate the games when the problem occurs. Simulate a month with your team and check how many quality starts you get during that period. :?

I use a 6-man rotation and sim through the whole season (play just one game against every team). I don't care how my players do. Just as long as my team wins the World Series. The only players who have really good stats are the success mode players I got from KingCobretti and Ryan Soohoo. I usually don't have problems with stamina.

I know this is a bit old...but I wanted to add

A Quality Start in this game is the number of times you go at least innings as a starter and give up under 3 earned runs.

I use a 5 man rotation with an experienced starter as my swing man. He goes about once every two weeks for my mets and everyone keeps nice and fresh. I keep 2 young starters in AAA just in case of a disaster....*looks at Glavine and shakes head*
