This probably goes without saying, but the best pitch sequences will probably be determined by what your given pitcher is particularly good at throwing.

I tend to live down and away, or up and in. If a pitcher has a good breaking ball or change, I'll alternate (more or less at random) between starting hitters with either a fastball or breaking ball down and away (hopefully right on the corner--I love getting called strikes on backdoor sliders and curves). I'll then usually follow-up with a different pitch in the same location. If the pitcher is primarily just a fastball pitcher, I'll stick with the fastball at least 3/5 pitches.

I usually repeat this process (maybe using a third pitch, maybe not) until I get two strikes on a hitter.

At this point, I'll usually throw a fastball out of the zone up and in, or try to land an offspeed pitch out of the zone. If they throw a good curve/slider, I'll start it on the plate and have it tail out of the zone. If they've got a good changeup/splitter, I'll bounce it low and away. I won't intentionally throw over the plate again until I get to a 2-2 count, and even then I try to paint the black. On 3-2 I more or less groove it, because I hate walks...

Anyway, that's working well for me vs. expert CPU hitters. If the AI seems like it's "picking up" on my pattern, I start coming inside a bit more often. And if someone nails a pitch that was well-located, I'll generally avoid throwing that same pitch/location the next time they come to the plate. I have no idea how much the AI actually does learn about my pitching pattern, but it's fun for me to pretend I'm facing real hitters.

I usually paint the corners, 2 fastballs and a curve, usually breaking pitches are my K's.

Here's what i do:

First i have all my pitches maxed out except for one. in this case a foshball, i keep it at one.

Second, i have my top speed at 105.

And Third, I just try and jam him then go out side then down the middle (any where in the middle, high, low what ever) and that should get you at least 10-12 K's.

I've noticed that the computer is confused by knuckleballs a lot. When I use Wakefield he'll usually get about 14-18 Ks.

Yeah, wakefield and his knuckleballs are way over-powered. Their is way to big of a difference between a level 6 and 7 knuckleball. It makes the difference between 8 to 15 strikeouts.
I find that if I'm not focusing, tired, and using a pattern and give up that big inning, the next inning is almost always 1-2-3 and I strikeout the side. Using a pattern for a few hitters and taking a chance with a few batters until the AI catches on actually can work out pretty well. Just change everything suddenly and the AI will have no idea what hit them.

The computer has a pretty hard time hitting Slow Curve 7. You can literally throw nothing but this pitch and get a decent number of strike outs. Many of the other pitches i have tested are fouled, ground or pop ups, or it's possible that i'm not throwing them in the right location.

I gave my first success mode pitcher the slow curve and was so pissed because I thought it sucked. I couldn't get anyone out with it when I tried to keep it down in the strike zone, but now I throw it mostly up and in to right handers and high and tight to lefties and it really is a devastating pitch with amazing break. You can get away with throwing it as far up and out as possible and it'll still catch the corner if it's level 7!

I have a lot of luck with the regular level 7-curveball. You can pretty much ONLY throw this pitch with your fastball, and get many strikeouts as long as you change up the location of your pitches well.

From what I've noticed in my experiences with my team, it's the pitchers with the good stats and excellent abilities that complement their pitches are the ones with the lowest ERA. For instance, Danceparty has yet to give up a run all season, he's recorded 9 or 10 wins so far with one no-hitter, and he only has a level 6 Palmball and a level 4 Slowcurve with his 94mph top speed. He only has Safe Pitch, Battler, Gyroball, Vs LH Batter and Poise.

Meanwhile, my 6th in rotation has a slower fastball, a level 2 Hard Slider, level 2 Hard Shuuto, level 1 V-Slider and a level 1 Cut, Groundball P, Intimidator, and is a level 4 in almost all pitching categories (Poise, etc) and he has the highest ERA of all starting pitchers.

Umm no its not if you read my thread on the change-up family(http://www.mlbppworld.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=447) then you might realize that it is more of a slowed V-Slider or Palmball seeing as the circle change goes in the direction of a Sinking-Fastball or a Sinker

1. I usually pause the game and go to the score section, there you can get all of the hot and cold zones of each hitter. I just follow that.

2. I was practicing general defense and I had a pitcher with a 7 knuckler. I kept throwing the knuckler down the middle and whiff whiff whiff whiff... it was ridiculous. whiff whiff whiff whiff whiff whiff whiff whiff whiff whiff... They were landing on their butts and stuff... crazy.

I have a bad habit of throwing only fastballs for a few innings.

My best pitcher is Trashcel of the O's (may have MS).

Its usually 2sf,4sf or Chg, Split that get the strike out.

Had a no hitter in the bottom of the 8th against the Red sox until Shawn Green belts a 2-2 pitch out.
