On a day off, at the library

Troy Tulowitzki, pouring over microfilm of old newspapers: "1978 league champs...1985 MVP...and then a bus crash? I knew there was something weird going on here. I've got to tell the guys!"

Pre game, the next day
Brayan Peña: "Alright guys, let's get ready to play tod..."
Tulowitzki, interrupting: "Guys, coach isn't alive! He's a ghost! He died in a bus crash in 1999 in Mexico. That's why he's so weird and why we've been playing so well!"
Ben Zobrist: "..."
Joey Gathright: "Da fuq?"
Spanky Rodriguez Jr.: "Are you...is it...can it be true?"
Spanky Rodriguez Sr., appearing in the middle of the room out of nowhere: "It is, Spanky Jr. I died tragically in that crash, too soon to help you achieve all you could in baseball. However, I was given a second chance during your team's time of need, and decided to help you guys out in the meantime."
Spanky Jr.: "Help us out...like Angels in the Outfield or something?"
Spanky Sr.: "EXACTLY like Angels in the Outfield...that's basically the whole idea behind this log."
Spanky Jr.: "What are you talking about log? And why are you speaking English now after you spoke Spanish all year?"
Spanky Sr.: "Ah dios mio. It's all been a dream Spanky. My coaching, your season, your team in general - none of this exists. It's all just a figment of your imagination."
Spanky Jr.: "But...it can't be...I'm a big league catcher...I'm a big league catcher...I'm a big league catcher..."

Palo Alto, CA, 1998
12 year old Spanky Jr. (waking up): "I'm a big league catcher..."
12 year old Jose Lopez: "Spanky, wake up, you're having that dream again."
Spanky Jr.: "...huh? Man...it felt so real this time. You were there - you were kind of a jerk too! And my Dad was there too...only he was dead? I don't know, some crazy Nancy Drew type character was solving mysteries and crap. And that Social Studies teacher tdud was the agent for like half our players. It was weird."
Jose Lopez: "Weird indeed man. Well someday we really will be pro ballplayers. I hope we play for some awesome team like the Mariners or something."
Spanky Jr.: "See I'd like to join the Reds...if they're good enough for Ken Griffey Jr. they're good enough for me!"
Spanky Sr., from downstairs: "Time for breakfast boys!"
Spanky Jr.: "Yes, breakfast! I hope it's bacon! I'll have to tell him about my dream again."
Spanky Sr.: "No era un sueño de mi hijo. Es tu futuro, tu destino."
Spanky Jr.: "?"
Jose Lopez: "Your Dad is weird. I can't wait until I learn Spanish someday so I can understand some of the weird crap he says."

The End

(I was having fun with this for a while, but life got kind of busy so I wasn't going to update for a while, and only tdud was commenting anyways. So maybe I'll make another log someday...but this log ends with this post! Sorry!)
