I am Christopher Mathews and THIS IS MY STORY.
Prologue
Date: March 28, 2007
"Ughh. Why did we get rid of Jim Bowden today?" Manny Acosta asked.

"Because he said the team was in a "bad state forever and ever and there is no way to fix it." The owner said.

"Well we need somebody. We are an MLB team."

"Well why don't you look at this sad list."

"Christopher Lou Mathews,21,right out of college-has no idea what baseball is."

"Well?"

"I like him. Plus ol' Becky will teach him while she can."

"Ol' Becky is only here because Mashiniro Tanaka Jr. is here."

"Well, so, what. I want him to be my GM."

"Ok. Will save me a lot too."
Date: April 1, 2007
"Crap, I have to tell Ol' Becky," the owner said to himself.

"Hello? Oh, Mr. Owner!" Ol' Becky said.

"Ummm... Well, Manny and I decided the new GM."

"The new GM's been decided?! Without me! Wait now no worry phew. If it were any longer the season would have started you! So, he's experienced no problem this time."

Beep... Beep...

"H-He friciking hung up!" Becky screamed in her office.

"Ughhh. This is going to be bad," Becky thought, "Ughh now he's here."

"Come on in, it's open," Becky said frustrated, "Hello!"

"Um... Uh... The um... owner told me to uh... come by here," I said nervously.

"You're the new GM, yes?"

"Um... Uh... Yes, I'm fresh out of college, but... um... how should I say this... well the owner said 'well I want to see what you can
do,'" I said, "I did study some business in college, but uh... I only know some baseball. Think I'll be ok?"

"Somehow...I get the feeling you'll be just fine! If you have any questions, I'll be here for backup," Becky said, "Your contract is for 10 years, and as of today, the fate of the teams is in your hands. Here's to start of a long, happy partnership."
Chapter One: Ol'Becky Talks Too Much
Date:April 1, 2007
"Today I will talk about blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah," Becky says.

"Yes and nod," I say.

"WHAT! DID YOU JUST SAY TO JUST BE LIKE 'YES AND NOD'," Becky said.

"Um... No!" I say.

"Strike 1," Becky said.

"What?!" I said.
Becky never awnsered. I just shut up. I wondered what it meant, but I needed to look at this team. I went on Baseball Refrence and learned some stats and made some decisions.
MLB/AAA Switches:
Nick Johnson 1st to the MLB sending Josh Wilson SS down.
Mahiniro Tanaka Jr. SP (82,130,156, 3 SPLIT, 1 CB) to the Majors sending Levale Speigner RP down
Alex Escobar CF to the Majors sending Nook Logan CF down.
Saul Rivera RP to the Majors sending Jesus Colome RP

Matt Chico RP sent down for Micheal O'Connor SP

Chapter 2: The First Game
Location: The RFK Office
Ol' Becky started to talk about what I knew money. I didn't listen to her. I thought about the game and the lineup. I kept on wondering until I came to the game.
The Florida Marlins At The Washington Nationals
The first game was tricky. We would lose 7-1. Here are the scoring summary of the game.
Score:
W: Willis (1-0)
SV: Karsins (1 SV)
L: Mashiniro Tanaka (0-1)-(6.1 IP, 12 H, 2 SO, 1 BB, 4 R, 4 ER)
Ok, now the summary:
In the top of the second with two outs, Joe Borcherd was up with Miguel Olivo and Cody Ross both on first and second. Joe Borcherd hit a hard grounder to second base.

In the bottom of the second with no outs, Nick Johnson hits a double, then Austin Kearns is up and hits a grounder to second base and Nick Johnson gets out on a baserunning error. Kearns still on first, Ronnie Belliard hits into a double play.

In the top of the third with no outs, Alfredo Amezaga hits a ground rule double, with Dan Uggla up he hits a soft grounder to Belliard(second base). Now, Miguel Cabrera is up with Alfredo Amezaga now on third, Tanaka walks Cabrera and lets Josh Willingham crushs the ball to short, the hardest liner ever, and it is caught.

In the bottom of the fourth with two outs, Nick Johnson hits yet another double that scores Zimmerman who was then on first. Austin Kearns then hits a pop up to the shortstop.

In the top of the fifth with two outs, Alfredo Amezaga hits a single then Dan Uggla hits another single, but reaches second and Alfredo is on third. Now, with Miguel Cabrera up he strikes out

In the bottom of the fifth, Tanaka hits a pop up to second with Brian Schneider on second with a double.

In the top of the seventh without a single out, Miguel Olivo hits a double setting up Aaron Boone to hit a single with Olivo on third. Now, Hanley Ramirez was up and filled the bases. Next, Alfredo Amezaga had a great oppurtunity, but popped up. Now Dan Uggla had another great oppurtunity and hits a triple. After, Miguel Cabrera hup and Tanaka was gone for Ryan Wagner. Ryan Wagner would give up another 2 runs and later more.

Chapter 3:The Line-up
Location: The RFK Office
Date:April 3, 2007
Ol' Becky started to talk about trades. I didn't listen to her. I thought about the next game and the lineup and decided to change it.
My lineup w/o DH:
1. CF-Alex Escobar
2. SS-Felipe Lopez
3. 3B-Ryan Zimmerman
4. 1B-Nick Johnson
5. RF-Austin Kearns
6. 2B-Ronnie Belliard

7. LF-Ryan Church
8. C-Brian Schneider
9. DH-Dimitri Young
The Florida Marlins(1-0) At The Washington Nationals(0-1)
My second game was an OK game. We would lose 3-2. Here are our key players of the game.
Nick Johnson:0-4, 1 RBI

I didn't watch or even go to the next game. We lost. We got swept by the Marlins
Chapter 5: Making A Splash
The RFK Office
Today, we decided to make a trade for Hanley Ramirez. That day Ol' Becky tried to make me understand practice more, but still couldn't.
Our trade for Hanley Ramirez:
We get: Hanley Ramirez SS
Marlins get: Felipe Lopez SS and $10,741,000
The Marlins seemed averagely intrested.(3 Stars) I think they will take the trade especially because Hanley is only a backup. It will really lessen our salarly as Felipe makes $3,900,000 and Hanley makes $400,000.
The Arizona Diamonbacks At The Washington Nationals
A close game at first. In the ninth the score was 3-3. In the bottom it was 7-3 thanks to Carlos Guzman's pitching.
W: Webb
L: Carlos Guzman
HR: Nick Johnson (1), Nick Johnson (2), Austin Kearns (1), Stephen Drew (2), Eric Byrnes (2), Orlando Hudson (1), Chris Snyder (1), Tony Clark (1)
Our Key Players:
Nick Johnson: 2-4, 2 HR, 2 RBIs, 2 R
Austin Kearns:2-4, 2B, HR, RBI, R
Shawn Hill: 7 1/3 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 3 ER
How we did after this game:
Game 2: 3-2 win against the Diamondbacks
Game 3: 8-3 win against the Diamondbacks
Game 4: 11-8 win against the Diamondbacks
Chapter 6:We Absolutely Stink
Ol' Becky kept talking too much. The trade we requested for Hanley was NOT ACCEPTED.
We now had the idea of trading away some higher salarly players. I want a fast left fielder especially because Church isn't a Left fielder. So we proposed a trade for Ethier.
The Trade:
We get: Andre Eithier
They get: $21,488,000
The Dodgers are fairly intrested(3 Stars).
The Line-up would look like this:
My lineup w/o DH:
1. CF-Alex Escobar
2. SS-Felipe Lopez
3. LF-Andre Ethier
4. 1B-Nick Johnson
5. 3B-Ryan Zimmerman
6. RF-Austin Kearns
7. 2B-Ronnie Belliard
8. C-Brian Schneider
9. PITCHER
The Line-up w/DH:
1. CF-Alex Escobar
2. SS-Felipe Lopez
3. LF-Andre Ethier
4. 1B-Nick Johnson
5. 3B-Ryan Zimmerman
6. RF-Austin Kearns
7. 2B-Ronnie Belliard
8. C-Brian Schneider
9. DH-Dimitri Young

Chapter 6(con.):We Absolutely Stink
Date: April 10, 2007
The Washington Nationals At The Atlanta Braves
Score:6-3 Loss against The Atlanta Braves
W: Redman(1-0)
SV: Wickman (0-1) (4 SV)
L: John Patterson (0-2)
HRs:
A. Jones-4 Hrs
Nivk Johnson-5 Hrs
Key Players for The Washington Nationals:
Nick Johnson:1-4, 1 HR, RBI, R
John Patterson: 2-3 2 RBIs, 5 IP, 3 H, 4 SO, 4 BB, 6 R, 6 ER
Date: April 11-12, 2007
Nats win-8-3 against the Braves
Nats lose-4-2 against the Braves
Chapter 7: We Are Not Good At Trades
The Dodgers declined the trade. It was a good trade too. NO reason not ot accept.
Next we made another proposal. Our proposal was for Fernando Hernandez for $20,000,000.
Our series against the Mets was a sad one. We had one win and the scores were:
Game 1: 11-4 loss against the Mets
Game 2: 7-4 win against the Mets
Game 3: 9-4 loss against the Mets
Now knowing the Mariners didn't say a word we had to focus on our first game against the Braves in our next series.
We would let Snelling replace A. Escobar.
And we lost 11-0 with no highlights. Tim Hudson had 15 SOs and pitched a CG.
I don't even know where ot start that's all you need to know abouth this game.
The next we lost again 7-4 against the Braves.
WE HAVE AQUIRED FERNANDO HERNANDEZ FOR $20,000,000. We sent down Mashiniro Tanaka for Fernando Hernandez. Fernando has a 1.72 ERA sending down Tanaka who had a 10.6 ERA and I wanted to end his missery.
I probably should rename the chapter. So now it is:

Oh good. I thought for a second that you gave up 20 mil for that FA reliever with the level 4 curve.

Chapter 9:Joe Blow
So we propsoed a trade to the Athletics for one of the worst pitchers with the worst ERA: Joe Blanton.
They were just willing for $9,000,000. Isn't that GREAT!
Today would be Felix Hernandez's first start for us against the Philadelphia Phillies. I have a feeling they are gonna get big. Maybe even get to the World Series next year win against the Tampa Bay Rays and then lose against let's say the Yankees. He will be in a duel between Hamels.
And we lost 4-3 against them.
ALSO, Ryan Zimmerman injured himself sliding into first, but I think he will be ok.
W: Cole Hamels
SV: Tom Gordon
L: Felix Hernandez
Key Players:
Felix Hernandez: 7 IP, 9 H, 5 SO, 4 R, 4 ER
Felipe Lopez: 1-4, HR, RBI
Ronnie Belliard: 3-4, HR, RBI
The next game was won 7-3 against the Phils.
AND WE GOT Joe Blanton for $9,000,000 and sent him up sending down Micheal O'Connor.
Now, our next series was against the Marlins and soon enough we'll see Joe Blanton pitching.

In the first game against the Florida Marlins we lost well uhh... um... 13-7. A very small margin.
Game 2: 2-1 win over the Marlins as Nick Johnson hits 2 HRs
Game Joe Blow:
Joe Blow Vs. The Florida Marlins
Score:4-2
W: Bowie
SV: Cordero
L: Olsen
Joe Blow had a rock first inning giving up 2 runs, but then settled in and pitched 5 1/3 scoreless after to compile into 6 1/3 IP, 10 H, 1 BB, 2 R, 2 ER. He would not get the win because the only run support was a Belliard homerun which was his only hit.(1-3, HR, RBI) He would be relieved by Felix Hernandez(for one out) and then by Bowie. Bowie would get the win because in the eigth Ryan Zimmerman with Escobar on first hit a homerun and Nick Johnson would make it back-to-back. Cordero would come in for the save.
Key Players:
Joe Blanton:See Above
Ronnie Beliard: See Above
Ryan Zimmerman: 1-4,HR, 2 RBIs
Nick Johnson: 1-4, HR, RBI
