I'd like to suggest a quick reference page for Success Mode abilities and events. I understand that wikis are generally organized like an encyclopedia, but having to browse through event and ability pages from an alphabetically organized Category page is impractical.

I've put together an example page to demonstrate what I have in mind:

http://www.glenridgeposse.com/mlbpp/wik ... eetPitcher
http://www.glenridgeposse.com/mlbpp/wik ... eetFielder

Please note the content of the page is unfinished, especially the hitting abilities section.

Also I'm not suggesting this to replace all the individual pages for events and abilities. It's more like a portal to those other pages (I was being lazy and didn't insert links), the same way Category pages are, except with everything organized so as to add some practical value.

Yes, however, lists are long and hard to decipher... you can display the same information via a sortable table, which would allow users to sort by Ability or the 3 places to find it (purchase, random event, or item) with links to each. Would be more concise, and cross-searchable. :D

I'll test out a sortable table concept tomorrow, hopefully it works, or I'll need to bother DarkShade concerning some extensions needing to be installed.

That looks really nice, and seems a lot of info to compile! Thanks for that! A reverse sortable vehicle/table of some sort would be awesome too so you could see what exactly each book/girl/random event can give you. I would understand if that is too much of a pain.

Alright, here's the layout. We'll need to be concise and uniform on how we fill out this table so the sorting thing still works.

I've divided the abilities into Pitching, Batting, Fielding, and Other like how they will appear on each player's profile screen.

For each ability, there will be:

  • The ability name (linked to it's full page)
  • If it can be bought from the shop use {{yes}} or {{no}}
  • If it can be gained from a Random/Key/Dating/Working event use {{Yes| Yes: list of links to events seperated by <br />}} or simply {{no}}
  • Yeses with events attached should put "Yes: " in front with no leading spaces to ensure proper sorting.

The tags are used to color code the cells on the table, and the links should be kept to 1-2 words. Shorten long events as necessary using a pipe like [[Learning Alvin's Knuckleball|Alvin's Knuckler]].

Here's the page: Ablities Table

See the talk page for more on how the sorting works.

Idk, the table looks organized but half of the info is going to be on how you can't get a certain ability ("No") which is pretty much useless. Basically you're creating fillers to make everything fit on a chart.

Maybe it's just me but I find it easier to use a quick and dirty reference sheet telling me exactly what I have to do to get a certain ability.

Of course that's just my two cents but I'm curious if anyone else agrees with me.

Up to you, but I I'm going to have the list moved out to a non-user page so others can edit without "encroaching" on your user space.

you can learn Alvin's Knuckler, or does this deal with the catching of it?
