I have a question regarding headings; Should they reflect the structure of the article or is it ok to go directly to subheadings for design purposes?

Some articles skip the headings (=Heading=) because its font is simply too big (I'm guilty of doing this myself here). Wouldn't it be better with all articles were simply formatted based on their structure of information, and the global style of the headings themselves was adjusted elsewhere?

It's sort of like how using <h2></h2> for the top level heading is considered bad code in HTML. If you want a smaller heading, the recommenced way would be to mark up the top heading with <h1></h1> and adjust the font size using CSS.

I would prefer to stick to the standard formats, for consistency in structure (what little there is), though I agree with you that the largest font seems very large, it's the size of the title header.

The page's Table of Contents (if there is one) won't care that you've started at level 2 though...

I could modify the .css to adjust the header font sizes globally...

Bah for double posting, but best way to gather attention. :D

=Header 1= Is the same size as the Page Title, and seems to have remained as such and shouldn't be used anywhere else...

==Header 2== Is for top level headers within a page

===Header 3=== Is for secondary headers under top level headers

etc....

I do remember seeing it on a style article in wikipedia.. but I can't find it now, but I have always started with the Level 2 Header (==Header==) and worked from there.

So carry on.

That makes a lot of sense.

Now I have to undo my Header 1s :P
