I had a bunch of custom players on Wiki pages....now they're goen. The links to them are still there, but no text, pictures, etc.

wiki/index.php?title=Charlotte_Chargers

All the links to my created players are now red. What happened??

The "Custom_Players" issue is because the 1.12.0 update from Mediawiki wiped out anything in the database it found that wasn't a part of the normal installation. If you still have these players passwords and such I'd reupload them under their normal name, without the Custom_Players until we can resolve this problem.

Wow, okay...but say, for instance, I'm a poor schmo that lost all the player data on his Wii...and then went to this here Wiki, where I loaded all their passwords, to load them back into my game...and now, I no longer have any copies of the pictures with passwords I uploaded.

Are you saying, the Wii and MLBPP Wiki have combined to make my life miserable? Or will it be restored perfectly at some future date?

thx

I can research to see if the data is in a backup database, but if it's not then the data is just gone. I didn't realize the updater would wipe out customized tables in the database when I used it, now I know better

Oh man....first, the Wii decides to dump all my created players randomly just before I leave on vacation to Mexico...

then, i come home and sit down to put them all back in...and the only place I stored them has somehow been wiped too.

I swear, is someone from the MLBPP development team out to get me, or what?

time to look through my upload logs or recycle bin and see what I can salvage

They might still be in the database as a blurb... somewhere...

Usually I suggest posting images to a 3rd party (imageshack, photobucket) AND posting here as well... web space is free... why not use it :D

You're in luck Alloutwar, the images are still on the site, they are just not linked to anything in the wiki. If you can write me a list of the characters you need, I'll put the images in a zip file and upload them for you, and then you can remake the wiki pages again.

Actually - I found them still stored, in my contributions page.

wiki/index.php?title=Special:Contributions/Alloutwar

So please disregard my whining. :)

I even have my own webspace to store all this stuff on, just didn't get a chacne to back it up before heading south of the border.

Another small issue on this...

on the Wii players category, now my players that we have re-constructed are coming up twice. They only have one category tag...some don't even have that.

It appears the category reference stayed, even tho the pages were deleted?

/e grumbles.

I can't really say WHERE they are... but surely they're there. Since I can't access DS's admin board to stare down the database tables, there isn't really a way for me to decipher where they are and if/how to retrieve them.

I will say that it IS doable to recover, but the amount of effort seems... ouch.

Perhaps we can find a way to flush the old pages out.

I don't think we need to retrieve them - i've reposted everything of mine under Custom Players, and DS did some as well (screenies only).

I think if we can just purge the old ones out, and therefore clean up those category pages, we should be on the right track..

sorry for the trouble my player posting has caused...hehe

Nah, mine did the exact same thing, which is why I haven't posted any more of my characters since then.

Hey MAxD - thanks for that intense cleanup/move you did of the custom player pages. I remapped my links from my team's home page to all the new pages:

wiki/index.php?title=Charlotte_Chargers

Now, for the bad news; the links on the category pages resolve to the old addresses, and to empty pages. How can we cleanup those category pages?

lol, no touchie my wiki! at least.. not yet.

The fixes aren't done yet... they are simply moved out of the way so they don't get squashed when it gets fixed.

DS and I went over some code yesterday, thinking we'd squashed it... and we got... halfway
