I HATE getting pulled with a no-hitter or a perfect game. It's so annoying. One thing you need (besides a high stamina rating) is to have a very high/full rest bar the turn you start. That has actually helped me pitch longer than normal.

I know, man. The bar was pretty full. But his stamina is only a B. Good thing he's just a rookie lol.

Isn't there an option that lets you control the batting too in MyLife mode, even if your player is a pitcher?

Oh, that just lets you control your pitchers batting? I thought it let you control the whole team.

You must have to edit a pitcher how you want and then give him 15 contact and 255 power like AOW said so you can get some run support.

May 4, 2008 - May 8, 2008

The next day was a travel day after a morning game with Pittsburgh. We traveled that night to Houston.

While we were on the plane, Mr. Acta came up to me.

"Hey Pedro! I've already talked to some of the other guys, but Mother's Day is coming up, and the team has decided to contribute. Some of the players are donating too. Would you like to take part?"

"I would be honored!" I said. "Write me up for $1000!"

"Great! Thanks!" He turned to talk to some more players.

I went golfing with Paul lo Duca each of the next few days, having a blast and developing a good friendship. Although he beat me every time...

We flew back to Washington after our final game with Houston.

Game Scores:
Pirates 2-5 Nationals
Nationals 6-2 Astros
Nationals 8-1 Astros
Nationals 3-6 Astros

May 9, 2008

After a solo practice in the morning, I was slated to start against the Marlins in a night game. Paul and I talked some during our warmup session.

"You ready for this?" said Paul.

"Totally," I said. "I'm psyched. I want to get that win!"

"I'm here for you, man," Paul replied. "I'll do everything I can to put some runs up for you."

"Thanks. Let's win this!"

The Marlins were up to start the game. Leading off was Alfredo Amezaga, who was on a 6-game hitting streak. But it would not continue, at least not in that at-bat. Next was Dan Uggla, number 4 in the MLB in RBIs. But he struck out swinging. Hanley Ramirez followed with a groundout to short to end the inning.

The second began without a run being scored. Leading off was Luis Gonzalez, who was number 5 in the league in homers. But he went down swinging. Next was Mike Jacobs, who popped up to third. Jeremy Hermida grounded out to short to end the inning.

Wes Helms was slated to lead off the third after an inning that saw us go up 1-0. He grounded out to third for the first out. Following for the Marlins was Matt Trainor, who grounded out to short. Ricky Nolasco, the opposing pitcher, grounded out to second to end the inning.

I came up to lead off the bottom of the third. A quick groundout to second ended my at-bat.

No runs were scored in the third. It was back to the top of the order for the Marlins. Amezaga stepped in, lining out to third. Uggla followed with a groundout to third. But Ramirez lined a single to center. Gonzalez couldn't capitalize, grounding out to me to end the inning.

Jacobs stepped in to start the fifth with the score still 1-0. He hit a solid liner to right-center for a double. Hermida followed with a single to right to put men on the corners. Helms then singled to right, driving in the game's first run. Treanor, who was up next, hit a grounder to short. Hermida, who had been on third, made a run for home, but got gunned down for the first out. Nolasco was next, using a sacrifice bunt to move the runners up. Amezaga grounded out to first to end the inning.

I came up to bat in the bottom of the fifth, but was subbed out for Dmitri Young. He drove in a run to make it 2-1.

That would've made me the winning pitcher, if the Marlins hadn't gone up 3-2 in the ninth. However, we came back in the bottom of the inning to win it 4-3. I pitched 5 innings, giving up 1 run on 4 hits and striking out 2. I was disappointed that I couldn't get the win.

--------------------------------------------------

EDIT: The new count is 42 1/3 innings with only 4 runs of support.

May 10, 2008 - May 13, 2008

The day after my start I decided to get some R&R.

The next day was Mother's Day. I decided to call my mom as soon as I woke up.

"RING... RING... RI- Hola?"

"Hola mamá. Cómo estás?"

"Muy bien, Pedro. ¿Y tu?" she replied.

"Maravilloso . Acabo de llamar para desearle un feliz Día de la Madre. ¡Feliz día de la Madre!" I said.

"Gracias, hijo ! ¿Cómo es la vida en Estados Unidos?" she asked.

"¡Es genial! He estado jugando muy bien hasta ahora y estoy teniendo un buen momento."

"Excelente ! ¡Estoy tan orgulloso de ti! ¡Te amo!"

"Yo también te quiero , mamá!"

I miss my mom... But maybe someday soon I'll be able to bring her here.

Anyways, we had a morning game on Mother's Day, then traveled to New York.

I asked Paul if he wanted to go golfing the next day, but he apparently had other plans already.

The next day I decided to get a little practice in to try and prep myself for my start against the Mets the next day.

Game Scores:
Marlins 3-7 Nationals
Marlins 4-8 Nationals
Nationals 6-13 Mets
Nationals 3-9 Mets

May 14, 2008

I decided to spend the morning resting before my big start against the Mets that night. They were a strong team so far, and with stars like Carlos Beltran and Jose Reyes, we were in for a tough game.

After we started the game scoreless, we took the field. Leading off for the Mets was Reyes, who lined out to second. Next was Luis Castillo, who grounded out to short. David Wright, 3rd in the MLB in homers and on a 10 game hit streak, strode up but quickly grounded out to first to end the inning.

Leading off the bottom of the second, after we failed to score, was Carlos Delgado, who singled up the middle. Beltran followed by hitting a grounder to short on which Delgado got out. Moises Alou was next, singling to center. Ryan Church came up with men on the corners and one away. I started to sweat. Don't let it get to you. You've got this. Church hit a grounder to short, but the shortstop, instead of turning the double play, threw it home! The runner was safe to make it 1-0 Mets. Brian Schneider was next, grounding out to me to make it two away. Jorge Sosa, the opposing pitcher, followed with a groundout to third to end the inning.

I came up to bat with a man on first and no outs in the top of the third. After battling to a full count, I singled to right. We were unable to capitalize on it, though.

Reyes came up to lead off the bottom of the inning. He quickly grounded out to short for out number one. Castillo followed with a groundout to second. Wright followed with a chopper to third for an infield single, extending his hit streak. Delgado couldn't keep it going though, grounding out to me to end the inning.

We went into the bottom of the fourth with the score still 1-0 in the Mets' favor. Beltran led off with a double to deep center. Alou followed with an infield single. Church, looking to capitalize, hit a grounder to first on which Alou got out. Schneider followed with a single to center, driving in a run to make it 2-0. Next up was the new pitcher, Ambiorix Burgos, who hit a sacrifice bunt. Reyes put a single into center next to make it 4-0. Castillo grounded out to first to end the threat.

I came up to the plate in the top of the fifth with one out and nobody on. Fighting to a full count yet again, I lined out to second.

Wright stepped in to lead off the bottom of the inning, grounding out to short. I was pulled after that batter in favor of Ray King. We ended up losing 4-1, and I took the loss, pitching 4 1/3 innings while giving up 4 runs on 7 hits and not recording any strikeouts. All in all, a very poor outing.

--------------------------------------------------

Rough game. I was in purple mood and had to face some stiff competition.
