Blockbuster Trade Brings Darvish to the AL East

BREAKING -- Ken Rosenthal just reported that the Chicago Cubs and Tampa Bay Rays just agree to a blockbuster trade. The Cubs have dealt SP Yu Darvish to the Rays for CF Kevin Kiermaier. Darvish is currently 5-3 with a 4.58 ERA in 56 innings pitched. Kiermaier is currently batting .337 with 3 home runs and 16 runs batted in. This trade looks like it could help both teams pretty well. Kiermaier brings good defense and plenty of hits to the Cubs while Darvish adds an ace to this Tampa Bay rotation that already contains Chris Archer.

Jets Late Comeback not enough in Thriller in Rochester

ROCHESTER -- Game one of this interleague series between the San Diego Padres and Rochester Jets was a thriller. In the top of the second, the Padres put together a rally with a single by Freddy Galvis, a double by Hunter Renfroe, and a two run single by backstop, Austin Hedges, who would end up leaving the game from hamstring tightness. In the top of the fourth, the Friars tacked on another run with a solo homer from another catcher, A.J. Ellis, making it 3-0. The Jets answered back with a single by Asdrubal Cabrera and a two-run homer by Derek Norris, who also happens to be a catcher. In the top of the sixth, Freddy Galvis singled and A.J. Ellis doubled, and then Galvis would come in to score on a wild pitch making it 4-2, Pads. In the bottom of the ninth, the Padres brought in their premier closer, Brad Hand. The Jets did not seem phased by this though as Chad Pinder singled and advanced to second on a passed ball. Then, Matt Holliday drove him in with an RBI single up the middle. With two outs, Pablo Sandoval was called upon to pinch hit for Emmanuel Rivera, but he struck out looking to end the game, the Padres ending up victorious, 4-3. Buddy Baumann would earn the win in thus one as he pitched 2 and two thirds shutout innings out of the bullpen. J.C. Ramirez notched the loss, his sixth of the season as he went 4 and a third surrendering 3 runs on 8 hits.

Score
Padres - 4 (36-26)
Jets - 3 (20-42)

W - Buddy Baumann (2-1 0.00 ERA)
L - J.C. Ramirez (2-6 4.97 ERA)
S - Brad Hand (19)
HR - A.J. Ellis (1), Derek Norris (6)
