Can I have Fredericks and Gohara and demand that they receive a callup soon?

You can only have 1 pitcher and 1 hitter so...

Also I plan on rotating players up and down a lot based on performance and needs so, they will probably be up soon enough

Albuquerque Panthers (2-3) at Las Vegas Aces (5-0); Panpaka Park

RHP Mathew Clay (1-0, 4.50) vs. RHP Deago (0-1, 17.18)

The Aces pulled out all the stops in an extra-innings victory over the Albuquerque Panthers, winning their first game at home stadium Panpaka Park.

Nick O’Reilly led the offense with six hits, driving in three runs and scoring three times. Pete Grossman hit his fifth home run of the season in the second inning to spark a seven-run frame, and Luke French added five hits with six RBI, including the walk-off single with the bases loaded and two outs in the 11th.

On the mound, Mathew Clay struggled a bit, allowing five runs in three innings, though he did record seven strikeouts. Clay made a point to go to his sinker more often, throwing it 14 of 52 pitches, and recording five whiffs and two strikeouts while conceding two base hits against the pitch.

For the Panthers, first baseman Osborne led the offense with four hits and five RBI. Colangelo added five hits and two RBI as well.

After the game, the Aces made two roster moves, recalling LHP Luiz Gohara and RHP Cody Fredericks from the minors, while optioning RHP Carson Fulmer, and placing OF Tucker Davis on the 10-day DL with a shoulder injury.

Fantasy Perspective:

OF Tucker Davis (shoulder) left in the second inning and was placed on the disabled list after the game. He was replaced in the lineup by Jack Gray, who will likely split time with Shane Gomes in right field while Davis recovers. Neither is considered a top fantasy option, though Gray could provide stolen bases and Gomes is a solid hitter.

OF Nick O’Reilly continued to hit well, recording a team-high six hits in the game, with three doubles, three RBI, and three runs scored. He is proving to be a force to be reckoned with in this Aces lineup. O’Reilly also had an outfield assist, throwing out a runner at the plate.

1B Pete Grossman continued his early-season power surge with his fifth home run in six games, and his fourth consecutive game with a home run. Grossman was recently named one of the League B players of the week.

RP Chase Glass recorded the win in relief today. Glass recorded his first strikeout of the season, allowing one hit over two-thirds of an inning.

SP Sam Simmons made a short appearance in today’s game, pinch-hitting for pitcher Jayson McDougal in the tenth inning and striking out. He remained in the game to face one batter, but is still on track to make his scheduled start tomorrow against the Panthers.

Albuquerque Panthers (2-4) at Las Vegas Aces (6-0)

RHP Sam Simmons (1-0, 3.38) vs. RHP Pachot (0-1, 21.00)

Two outs. Runner on first base. Bottom of the ninth. Tie game.

Nick O’Reilly steps up to the plate like he’s done this a million times. Probably because he has done this a million times. The new pitcher starts to sweat as he finishes his warm-up pitches.

O’Reilly sees a pitch he likes. It’s the first pitch. It’s also his first home run of the season, when it lands.

O’Reilly has driven in the game’s first and last runs, while saving some in between.

Glass (-) 0.1 ip, 1 h, 0 r, 0 bb, 1 k, 6 pitches
McDougal (W) 1 ip, 1 h, 0 r, 0 bb, 2 k, 11 pitches

Postgame Notes:

Jack Gray received the first start in right field in place of the injured Tucker Davis (shoulder) and batted ninth, recording two hits and playing solid defense. It’s unclear how the playing time will shake out in the absence of Davis, and given that the Aces’ leadoff man is unlikely to miss more than the minimum ten days, it’s probably not worth your time to pay attention.

Filet Mignon, who has to date batted fifth in the order, shifted up to the leadoff spot for this game, and was 2 for 5 with two runs scored. Likewise here, it’s unclear who will receive the starts in the leadoff position going forward, though Mignon, Luke French, and Nick O’Reilly are all likely candidates, and are all worth fantasy attention.

LHP Luiz Gohara was optioned back to AAA after making an uninspiring debut, allowing five runs in 1.2 innings of relief. “We want him to work on his command of, and confidence in, his offspeed pitches,” said team staff. “We think he can learn from Jayson McDougal,” they said, referring to the similarly hard-throwing left-hander, who recorded three whiffs and two strikeouts on his curveball tonight, while hitting as high as 101mph on the radar gun.

RHP Tommy Campbell was recalled in a corresponding move. He will make a spot start tomorrow as previously scheduled starter Brandon McCarthy will receive an extra day of rest. Campbell is a groundball specialist known for his heavy sinker, though he throws only two pitches, the other being his traditional four-seam fastball. Avoid Campbell for fantasy purposes.

Fantasy Perspective:

OF Nick O’Reilly starred yet again for the Aces, smashing a walk-off homer to left field while adding three hits, a stolen base, and on defense, throwing out two runners, including one at home plate, to save his team almost as many runs as he produced. O’Reilly is a fantasy — and real-life — monster and there’s no reason he shouldn’t be on your team, unless someone else had the first overall pick in your league.

SS Luke French collected three hits and two RBI, and is proving to be a force in the middle of the Aces’ order. His batting average sits above .600 on the young season, while he has driven in 12 runs, good for second on the team. Pick him up immediately.

1B Pete Grossman smashed his sixth home run in seven games this season, driving in three runs with a 429-foot blast to center field that drove opposing starter Pachot out of the game in the third inning. While his batting average is a bit behind those of his teammates, Grossman has hit 6 of the team’s 7 home runs so far and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.

RHP Sam Simmons turned in an excellent start, holding the Panthers to one run in six innings while striking out seven. He also scored the team’s first run, proving his utility as an offensive weapon as well. While he is pitching second in the Aces’ rotation, Simmons is the Aces’ ace, at least for fantasy purposes, and should be treated as such.

RHP Chase Glass entered with runners on first and second, two outs, and a two-run lead in the eighth inning. He then surrendered an RBI single, threw a game-tying wild pitch, and struck out the final batter of the inning. No runs were charged to the right-hander, though, and unless your league tracks strand rate, this outing will not affect him for fantasy purposes. It’s also worth noting that team staff has showed a willingness to use Glass for more than just traditional one-inning saves — which could significantly boost his counting stats. Glass is a top closer in the league and should be added in all leagues.
