this strategy doesn't work too well with poor sense once you hit like a 92 mile fastball you don't receive enough technique to increase both speed and movement...i came into that problem today with my player well into his third year

Yeah, in order for it to work o its fullest, you'll need good sense, both focus stones, champion ring.

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie on this forum.

Just finish my first attempt on success mode.
It's a decent pitcher chars, B stamina and Control, Lv 5 screw ball, Lv 3 Hard Slider
with 2 or 3 abilities.

I'm thinking of making another char but this time I'm planning to use a gambling ring extensively.

My question is, at what probabilities usually all of you start to gamble? Cause it seems to me any probability less than 30% always take me more than an hour to save and reload. Is that happen to everyone else or just my luck?

Does your char's luck affect the outcome as well?

Thanks for the help.
:D

i won't gamble lower than 15%, but 30% isn't actually that bad: it's close to a 1 in 3 probability.

I don't gamble on anything less than 7%. Anything higher is fine. The 10-15% chances always seem to work out for me.

10% or higher it's a definite gamble. Lower than that depends on the situation.

Depends on your "threshold" of reload pain. If you can multi-task yourself, you can lessen the annoyance factor...

I'm not a dedicated reloader, my threshold tends to be higher on basic green abilities, but down into the 10% range on the more expensive abilities.

Same here. Abilities like Battler, Cannon Arm, and higher Top Speeds are the ones that I'll gamble low rates on. If I had 1 strength point, I wouldn't try a sub-10% chance on one power point - unless it was at the end of the game and I didn't really care about the result.

Same here as well. My "pain threshold" for reloading has increased over time, but I won't gamble below 10% except in rare circumstances.

The inconsistent thing though is that for whatever reason I'm more willing to reload for specific random events even though that often takes longer than gambling up a stat.

Hmm, so it looks like 10% is the average cap for everyone.
I think I'll try to endure the pain that comes with 10% prob. then

I think I miss a lot of upgrade by capping my gambling to 30%

Thanks everyone

I'm willing to gamble on just about anything. The lowest I think I've gone is 6% trying to upgrade +1MPH and increase my movement on the same turns.

Like someone else said, if you have a high pain threshold or can multi-task it's not that bad. In my opinion I've waited much longer for the 14-16% gambles than I have for the 6-9% gambles.

I feel the same way. The lower percentage's sometimes seem to work out better for me than the 10-20% range.

Should post this on the Wiki.

Any successful pitcher is going to need to shadow pitch at partof their training, exactly how you mentioned. The technique bonus from using it over and over is nice.

I wonder, just how many of those Success/Fail bars there are and if someone could find a 'sweet spot' number. For instance, if there are 15 total bars to land on, an 99% success rate would still have 1 bar contain a Failure, the same as 94% (15*.94 = 14.1), and a 93% chance would have 13 Success Bars and 2 Failure Bars, the same as 87%.

Hmmm I think I know of a way to figure it out... I can hook up my Wii to my digital video converter, try a gamble, record the spinny gambling bars move to video, and then slow down the video frame-by-frame to find out exactly how many there are. This way we can also find out if it is variable, such as 15 bars for X% rate, but 20 bars for Y% rate....
