I wonder, just how many of those Success/Fail bars there are and if someone could find a 'sweet spot' number. For instance, if there are 15 total bars to land on, an 99% success rate would still have 1 bar contain a Failure, the same as 94% (15*.94 = 14.1), and a 93% chance would have 13 Success Bars and 2 Failure Bars, the same as 87%.

Hmmm I think I know of a way to figure it out... I can hook up my Wii to my digital video converter, try a gamble, record the spinny gambling bars move to video, and then slow down the video frame-by-frame to find out exactly how many there are. This way we can also find out if it is variable, such as 15 bars for X% rate, but 20 bars for Y% rate....

Great idea. Except that sounds more useful for non-Gamblers

BTW, if you have a DV converter, do you think you could do a frame by frame comparison of FB Life 3 vs 4? I'd also be interested in Gyroball vs regular 4SFB too. It would make some great wiki material for those abilities 8)

Sure, I can convert them to animated gif files so we don't have to do any special movie embedding.

What exactly would I be looking for, for FB Life 3 and 4? I thought this just made your fastball speed last longer into the game?

Fastball life is supposed to make your fastball move just slightly as it comes close to the plate.

And I totally agree with your theory DS, as I've made more and more characters I've come to notice anything lower than like 9% only has one bar, and up to around 14% only has two, which is why it's so damn hard to get a 14% gamble but doesn't seem as bad to get 9% in comparison. You'd think that 5% would help, but it definitely doesn't do much.

Well the general theory is that it visually adds +4kph without changing the radar gun reading.

4SFB are supposed to have no movement in Japanese baseball, so I doubt the movement part, unless it's upward.

These sound like pretty good ideas; its a shame they're coming up so late in the game's life. Maybe it would be better to just wait for '08 to try these little experiments?

Why not try it now and on '08 to see if any differences appear on the two different versions, as this idea will most assuredly come back up in about 2 to 3 months. It is a shame though that it took so long for this to come up.

I have a confession: A few years ago, I actually did a fastball life comparison with a different Power Pros game before I sold my capture card.

I dug up some old files so I'll be posting them soon.

Edit: Done

I'm a little confused about the first year of training. I understand that you have to do strength training to increase stamina. Here are my questions:

During this time, am I also trying to boost my CTRL also?
*If not then when should I focus on CTRL?

Should I still try to get Bookworm Lv. 2?

I assume I would need to still get a job but when would be the best time to do so?

These might seem like silly questions but I'm confused about the big and little stuff. Thanks in advanced.

I won't pretend to be an expert on this topic, as starters are my weakness, but I think I know a little:

When strength training, don't think about control. Do that in the latter years.

Get to level 2, and level 4 bookworm. Use the Mind-Training Necklace, as well as the Grad Charm. Do Annie's HW when 0 vitality. The level 4 is useful because of the possibility of intensifying the strength training to help stamina increasing.

It's probably not terribly efficient, but I usually work twice after resting (for Hyper-recovery).
