Hey, when Daunte Culpepper came back from retirement, he was talking with the Chiefs and another team. He decided, though, to go with the God-forsaken Lions, so there could be a dark horse in the Yu Darvish talks. Just giving an example. |

Lions are the only team that would take him. Yu won't go to some darkhorse team, it'll be the Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, or Mariners. |

As rich as the Yankees and Red Sox are, they both may lay off of him. I mean as valuable as a prospect he is, neither really need him too much, especially the Yankees. The Yankees have a long future for CC Sabathia, Cheng Ming Wang, Joba Chamberlain, and probably Phil Hughes. Burnett has 5 years left too, and Darvish would be ready for the majors long before then (It's possible he'd start when he came over). Plus, the Yankees haven't had a good history with Japanese players (Irabu, Igawa). The Red Sox are set for a while with Becket, Lester, (maybe Matzuzaka, how long his contract and how old is he? Like Wang, is he sure he wants to continue being a Red Sock?), and maybe Bucholz. Plus they have Tazawa. Now the appeal of the Red Sox is that they have a couple Japanese players, but the Yankees have Matsui too. My guess is that a team that could use him more would get him. I know the Mariners are one of, if not the most popular MLB team in Japan because they've had so many Japanese players. A lot of players are interested in them, but they can't usually afford it. Not likely, but just a thought. |

Yeah, Joba and Wang look AWESOME so far. ![]() Seriously? You say that after what, not even 2 weeks. Cheng Ming Wang got second in Cy Young his first two years in a row. His mechanics are clearly off and he isn't used to throwing yet. That will change, I'm certain. And Joba just had 1 poor start, he was lights out his first start with 1 run given up in 6 innings. He only gave up 3 runs in 5 innings, which stinks, but the rest were because of an error. He would have been pitching longer were it not for the error (his other start he gave up 1 home-run in 6 innings and 2 unearned runs). Don't act like Steinbrenner in the 90's and give up on a guy this early in the season. He'll come around. |

STEINBRENNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cownip does have a point though. Do any of you seriously think that Marco Scutaro will keep his current pace? Do you think that last season for Aaron Harang was a sign? (Not just you, Chief) Exactly. |

(Not just you, Chief) I've never liked Harang to begin with, I was glad Freel, Patterson, Griffey and yes even Dunn left. We should get rid of Harang. ![]() Last season though, Harang's numbers were affected greatly by his injury against the Padres. He wasn't the same after he recovered. |
