Post subject:  MLBPPWORLD Historical Team League

I was thinking of using historical teams that you guys choose and placing them together in one league. There's a catch though: you get to take one player who's been on that team in whatever year and he gets to play. For example, a player could choose the 1994 Montreal Expos and decide to import Randy Johnson in his best year since Johnson was on the Expos at a time. Or, I could choose to be the 1927 Yankees and have A-Rod from 2002 play. It's entirely up to you guys if you want to play or not, I just thought it would be interesting to see what historical teams you guys favor and what player you think would have made that team perfect.

To go over it again, you choose a historical team or a current one and one player. Once you decide on your player, you chose a year of his career (preferably his best) and tell me. To make sure this turns out correctly, I'll be using OOTP Baseball (which is good for this kind of thing...) and disabling trades, suspensions and injuries along with fatigue. If you're interested, PM me following the template below (if you don't want to PM me, just post here, it doesn't matter):

Code:
Team: 1946 Boston Red Sox (You put [year] [team])
Player: 2000 Pedro Martinez
Position: SP
Spot in the Rotation (if a pitcher): Ace
Spot in the Lineup (if a batter): ----

Teams already chosen:

1946 Boston Red Sox
1927 New York Yankees
1998 New York Yankees
2001 Seattle Mariners
1996 Atlanta Braves
1899 Cleveland Spiders
2007 Boston Red Sox
1994 Expos

Not needed. People can choose whatever player they want.

Me_and_Lucy, do you want your pick to be Johnson or Mantle?

I choose:

1996 Atlanta Braves

position player- 1959 Hank Aaron

position: CF(he can play CF right? He was an outfielder and played 13 games there in 1959)

Spot in lineup: 3rd

We have five people registered. That's awesome. My deadline to start this is the 28th, or when we have eight teams. Whatever comes first.

And Jacobye, Aaron can play CF.

EDIT: Nobody has chosen Koufax yet? Wow.

just a question, what was the earliest year in which you can play OOTP? 1900? Before?

It's around 1871 if you plan on using real players (database starts here) and financials, otherwise I think you would be able to start at 1800 and work your way up. I, for one, do that a lot since I like pretending I own the world. I started at 1800 before and wrote stories about important fictional events that were "occurring". I used my own financials though.

And yes he can play LF, Me_and_Lucy.

Oh my God...

Dr K has Gehrig, Ruth and McGwire back-to-back. That's 177 home runs combined right there... that's more than most teams in the course of a season. If they hit the exact same number of home runs they did in that year.
