Of course, if you've always been throwing strikes, toss one outside and see if he chases it.

I can typically get notable chasers (Vladdy for one) to swing wildly at breaking pitches down/away well out of the zone after putting things very close to the outside corner.

In real life, vladdy can hit basically anything. not necessarily well, but he still hits it no matter where the pitch is thrown (except at his head)

I don't really have a particular K-pitch but I would say I have some preferred pitching patters. Assuming there's nobody on base I tend to like to throw high fastballs and then go low with change-ups and curves. Fastball high, change low, fastball out of the zone high, change low off the plate, etc.. I love backdoor sliders to opposite-handed batters and any breaking ball low and away to same-handed batters. The one thing I stay away from, and my pitching location chart really backs it up, is pitching up and in. I don't know why but I'm just never all that comfortable doing it. I also get a little bit fastball happy sometimes and really pay for it.

That's because in real life, he swings at everything (except at his head). Not saying he's a bad hitter, but man does he lke to swing!

The "you can't walk your way off the island" philosophy.
