I don't like single elimination games (see: Game 163 in 09. *shudder*), so in my MLB 2K12 PC game, I usually set it to a 3-game series in Franchise mode.

I like it since it adds more suspense as to who gets in and gives more hope for the fans to root for their team.

I wouldn't mind a 3-game series either. 1 game is probably just easier for travel.

I dislike it, because it takes away a bit of the drama at the end of the regular season and makes things one game more tiring (and one or two flights more exhausting as well) on the wild card team. Plus, the last thing we needed was extended playoffs (for any sport, really).

I like it because it gives some extra teams a shot at the playoffs and make things a little more exciting.

It doesn't work as best of 3, though, unless they push the rest of the playoffs almost a full week back, which we definitely don't need. Plus, it tires out the wild-card teams unnecessarily. I'm the minority here, but seriously, it was more exciting and more fair to have just one wild-card team.

I think best of 3 would be best. I like how it adds more teams, but it's baseball, one game shouldn't decide everything

1 WC > 2 WC

Although, my dad said the Rangers and Orioles would have been tied anyways for the one WC, so we would have had a Game 163.

We have similar playoff schemes for some of our sports in Australia. Mind you they're not 162 games. I think if teams are going to slug out 162 games only for one game to decide whether you advance as the wild card would be a bit hard to swallow. If the 2 teams have made it to the wild card game it should be a 3 game series. Mind you the O's did advance from the one game playoff and considering they were playing Texas any more games and they may not have advanced. Another option could be to cull the playoff games to 5 a series, and have 8 teams per league in the playoffs. It would add an extra round to the playoffs which would be a downside....

Eh, 16 teams is a bit much. In the AL, the 8th team is Chicago, but the 9th is the Blue Jays at 73-89! In the NL, the Phils and D-Backs would be tied for 8th, but they're both only .500 teams.

It still baffles me how two teams can tie after playing 162 games...
