Yay, polls

So, in you guys opinion, what's the most important aspect of a video game? What does it need to be great? For me, the biggest one is replay ability, or length, depending on the type of game. If I'm going to pay $60 for a game, I'm gonna want to get at least 30 hours of playing time. If it's a game that focuses more on story, I really hope it's a lengthy story, as it might not be something I play through again. But it's ok for a game to be short if it has fun gameplay that makes me want to go through it again. For example, I've probably logged close to 100 hours between the second and third Spyro game because they're just really fun games.

It just needs good playability. Something that is enjoyable that you can play over and over again.

If it's a game that's famous for it's story, then I'd say story.

I as well think replay value. Most games have a story mode, but after you beat that then what? Games need to be fun enough that you want to keep playing it, whether that be replaying the story, or playing online with others.

I always love a good plot/storyline to the game

Or it being a game (like Power Pros) that is not focused on a story.

*Opens up Steam*
*Has 1141 hours on Team Fortress 2*

Yeah... I think I'm going with replayability here.

Story and characters one hundred billion percent.

A good game needs a good plot and good characters, unless it doesn't focus on story (such as sports games, or, like, Geometry Wars).

But story and characters all de way

I saw this on another forum.

If it isn't about the gameplay you guys are wasting your money on this medium. If you want a good story go and read a book or watch a film.
Does anybody have a rebuttal?

Why can't video games have stories to them too? If you're in a video game you can play out the story. There are lots of good games with great gameplay and story. As long as there is good gameplay, why can't you have a cool story? I think that's a pretty close minded statement from whoever that is.
