Gallardo struck out 14 today, as the Brewers took 2 out of 3 from the Pirates.

If any of you have been reading PPJ's Slayers log (and I recommend that you do), you may know that I'm trying to recreate the PGL in my game along with a few changes as I deem fit (for example, the Las Vegas Gamblers are now the Vipers). I currently have made 12? team outlines, meaning I have the team set up, I just have to go in and edit the players. Seeing as I don't have the time or creativity of PPJ (and also partly because of my "thing"), I have a system set up on how to change the teams. I will number all of the different last names, (at the end of G I have 295 different ones) and randomly generate numbers. Depending on the number, a last name will be assigned. Last names that I deem obscure or unique will be only used once because it wouldn't be realistic to have multiple players with the last name Torrealba or others like that. To change stats, I will also use a number generator ranging from +2 to -2 for most abilities, +5 to -3 for top speed, and +20 to -20 for control and power. A positive number means the stats I increased that much, and vice-versa for a negative number. I have not decided how I will change stamina, trajectory, or abilities, so if anyone had any ideas, it would be great if you could share them.

I did that with a team once, and pretty much tried to make it as realistic as I could... I didn't have a fancy system, but yours sounds like it'll work.

Funny story not related to Skittles or Brewers: so, a while back, I was cleaning my desk out, and I found a pamphlet/program/whatevs from something our County ISD called "Young Author's Day" (which basically, the concept was that they got kids from my district and another district who made the most creative stories in class (judged by the ISD) and was basically a workshop on creative story-writing) from back in 2004. I was kinda surprised/not surprised to find that a lot of the kids from my district that were there were kids I know now, and didn't know back then (one of them being my best friend who is a girl (not a girlfriend))! So, kind of a nostalgia moment for me.

Geez, the system I used to determine stats was nowhere near this elaborate.

The only tip I have is not to give anyone the Walk ability. I went a bit trigger-happy on it in order to make the PGL more hitter-friendly, and that's pretty much the only thing I regret.

I bet that the next one he gets is either the Padres/Dodgers...shenanigans in the 9th inning, or Prince Fielder flopping into second base against the Orioles a couple days ago.

How many players did you give "Walk"? I understand why giving it out way too often would be a problem, but I don't think giving it to nobody is a good compromise for it either. In 4, almost 5 teams, I've given 1 player "Walk", and I was about to give it to a second one, but I wasn't sure after you posted this.

After about an hour I've finished my first team (the Squirrels), and now I'm going to work on the Vipers and then hopefully the Falcons tonight.

Derrick Rose just threw a perfect game, AND scored the game winning touchdown on a walk-off free kick from the 3 point line!
