Just found out that the Hauppauge PVR can actually record video off of pretty much any console. I was under the impression that it wouldn't be able to because of what someone who seemed to know what they were talking about said, along with how it advertises it being for PS3/X360. I thought I'd need to buy something else for the other consoles, but I guess that's not the case. This has been a pretty good day even though I didn't really do anything except test things out.

Being able to record Wii footage properly will be an interesting opportunity. I foresee some Power Pros videos in the future, but it still may not be anytime soon. It depends on what type of video I'd be looking at. And how regularly they could be made would depend on whether I'm including any of my commentary or not.

At this point I wish I could quit my job and have all the free time I want to actually work on videos and other things.

And the test video finally uploaded, I would ask about the video and audio quality, but I think that because it was recently uploaded it only has 360p as an option, which really isn't good. And I'm changing the console settings in the future from 1080i to 1080p because it seems to look a bit better.

If I ever figured out how to do anything with streaming, would anyone have any interest? Not really sure what I'd be doing with it specifically. I could play a game and take suggestions, I could play Rock Band and take song requests, I don't know.

I think that'd be cool. I'd have to see what games you have though.

Had to go back and "fix" things on a couple old Star Wars Battlefront videos. One of them was blocked worldwide because of the music, but should be fixed, even though the thing that's supposed to mute the music in that section only makes it cut in and out, but whatever. And the other video was muted entirely, and it still is, but it has an edit in progress where it should then just be muting the part of the video with that music in it.

It's weird how that copyright stuff works sometimes. There's some music elsewhere that you can use and acknowledge as third-party content and they're fine with it as long as you aren't making money off of it. Then there's some music (all from the same source), that can do anything from be perfectly fine, to muting the entire video, to blocking the entire video worldwide (I actually looked before and I think that same video was only blocked in Germany, but I didn't really care too much about that, I don't draw a very large German audience to begin with, although they are apparently 1.5% of my total views. Mostly my views are from the US (63.9%)).

Actually, looking at those demographics provides some interesting stats, the US accounts for 63.9% of my views, but only 50.8% of my total minutes watched, where Canada accounts for 8.9% of views but 13.2% of minutes watched. So people in the US are either more likely to watch the shorter videos, or click away without watching the whole video. Actually that's not accurate apparently, the whole "estimated minutes watched" thing was only implemented in late 2012, so it's not going to be accurate for the lifetime of my channel.


One thing that is clear is that I don't really have much of a Canadian audience at the moment. Well, I'm planning some NHL videos in the future, so I'm thinking that should at least help a bit.
