#NeverForget 9/11

I would've posted that earlier, but my internet just came back this morning.

Okay, okay, I think I have something to say (yeahhhhno, I know I do. You can see my walls of text below. I know you can. Go on, start your perusing).

-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-

9/11 is this century's Pearl Harbor, and for those of us old enough to remember it (for better or for worse, I was too young to remember that date (and I'm one of the elders on this forum, in a way)), it's one of those "I was here when this happened" moments that only come around a couple times in a life. People don't simply forget an occurrence like 9/11 unless they get amnesia or PTSD or something along those lines. It's an iconic moment in our history, that forever changed how we think and how much time it takes to get through airport security. While I'm definitely of the sentiment that 9/11 should be a day for mainly private paying of respects and mourning and remembrance (the last thing I want to see is some commercialized bullshit "memorial" of such a solemn happening), that doesn't mean you should just dismiss it and go about your life like it never happened, even though you're clearly not old or mature enough to remember anything about it.

I don't care what your views are on this country, whether you're a nationalist, or the subversive type, or you want a communo-anarchist overthrow, or whateverthehell, you have to take that day from this point onwards and at least show a little respect for what happened. The date is not famous only because it began a second round of heavy involvement in the Middle East, but because it was one of the very few times that an attack has been made on our country, IN our country. For once, the attack literally hit home for many people, and it forever changed the shape of one of the nation's great cities, both physically and mentally (look at Boston in the aftermath of the marathon bombing, for example, and the grit they showed). 9/11 is more than just a point on a timeline saying "WAR STARTS HERE."

And yes, the economic aftermath (that word being not really applicable since we still have money over there) is very much horrendous to us, and the subject of great debate in this nation (one of the largest factors in the inane partisanship plaguing our governmental processes), but I think the more important factor to consider, at least for one day, is the human standpoint, that thousands of lives were lost, both on our side and with innocents in the Middle East. You can't just look at a war and think about lost money instead of lost lives and shattered families.

As for the religious sentiment, well, sometimes they're pricks (this goes for the zealots and the atheists), and sometimes they're sane. There's a larger middle ground than people realize because the extremes are so loud, and there are, in fact, balanced opinions by both religious people and atheists (Christian Science Monitor, for example, is quite a nicely balanced firm, from what I remember).

The whole "PREPARED FOR DOWNVOTES" thing is A. inapplicable and B. making you look like a prick (sorry, a bigger one). Say what you wanna say and be done with it; you don't need any footnotes or whatever (and those only serve to devalue your point unless you're legitimately adding something). I mean, I've had my share of rants over the years, but I didn't end them with "DOWNVOTE ME ALL YOU WANT."

Oh, and for the record, you're not goddamn Ryan Seacrest. You can't just go "I'm out" once you've been rightfully lambasted to signify your leaving the conversation. You could hardly have been more pretentious if you made an AutoTuned song out of it with 2 Chainz and Kesha and made a video that makes Blurred Lines look like The Mickey Mouse Club.

-----------------

Ah yes, and to everyone else, may we never forget that infamous date of 9.11.01, and may it continue to only make us stronger as a whole nation (and for the love of god let's really cut down on the xenophobia and such).

Man, s-jax, you're good at this.

I wasn't old enough to remember 9/11, but I got really interested in architecture in 1st grade so I would look up pictures of the twin towers and I always kinda knew they were destroyed because of terrorism. I researched that day further. The heroes who saved as many lives as they could while risking their own (not just firefighters, but normal people too) not to mention the people that stopped the plane from going to D.C. And all the innocent lives lost. It's just really tragic and a day that should be fully ingrained in everyone's minds.

listen usually I can grin and bear your bullshit Prediction but are you always this much of a moron or is it akin to seasonal allergies

it frustrates me to hear you spout some bull-ass shit about a highly controversial topic, in the grand scheme of things that would be like going to an all-Catholic website and saying 'i'm gay. pro-choice ftw. i love u all xD.' You just shouldn't do it. I'm not even one to over-sentimentalize any of this shit, I'm not much of a sentimental person at all but you've crossed a line here. It's offensive to say that people will obviously forget eventually because the people heavily affected by it won't ever forget. Imagine if you worked with your wife in the twin towers the day it happened and she was in a floor above where the plane hit and you knew that when you were outside fleeing your wife was inside dying, or preparing to die, or breathing her last breaths or something. Imagine how horrific that must have been. That's why it's disrespectful and unacceptable to say something so childish.

To just discount 9/11 and say 'ok it's in the pst!!!!!!!!' is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. It's good to do that with a lot of things and it's an important part of the grieving process, but that's irrelevant because this impacted America in a gigantic way and you can't get past that. I'm not making a conscious effort to eviscerate you at every given opportunity, it's just that you make it so goddamn easy.

Lol Chrysippus.

I hope that these guys have changed your opinion on 9/11 Prediction, even it's its ever so slightly, towards a more respectful one. I'm not going to harp on it any more, I feel as if these guys have covered most of the things that can be.

And thank you, Kellen Winslow for that valuable 1 point in FFB. :(

Trying to execute a trade in my school league for Matt Forte in exchange for Julius Thomas and Ben Tate.

*crosses fingers*

Also, I got Madden 25 yesterday. I didn't have a whole lot of time to play, just played about an hour or so of the My Player. It's definitely a lot better than it was in Madden 12, I got through the preseason and one regular season game as a 79 overall QB for the Bills. It appears you no longer start regardless of actual ability, so that's good.

I'll probably check out Ultimate Team next and then start a Lions franchise.

I've been trying to progress far enough in a Panthers dynasty so that I can relocate them... probably to Toronto. I almost just went with the Bills, but I like being able to use my first round pick (or in NCAA, have my first big recruit) on a QB/HB/WR, and I wanna draft a HB so I can replace DeAngelo (could probably trade him midseason for a #2 WR).

Also, my fantasy team scored 162 points last week. In a money league. Sooooooooo yeah. <3
