It was a rainy week for our Pirates,

First, the 12/6 double header was rained out. Which was ok, because it was a Sunday in December.
Mark Lemke had come to the park hoping to play for Atlantas old timers, but wound up inviting Alfonzo and his boys over to his condo to watch some football.

Lemke lived in a nice place. The TV was well situated and his snacks were fully stocked.
Alfonzo observed how all the new roommates were getting along,
-Cassius was showing John Bradley how to make amazing Guacamole.
-Jefferson and Jack were getting the barbecue ready for halftime grilling,
-Cristobal had gotten the dominoes table going, playing a doubles game with Lance, against Dusty and Bob.
Alfonzo and Lemke watched the Falcons game and reminisced.

Cassius felt the Guacamole needed something, he had John taste it,
and John says it needs more...

As the boys were entertaining themselves, Alonzo was confiding in Lemke that he was starting to feel the effects of age.
He said that his time in the squat was catching up with him and that he was usually unable to stand up the day after games.
Lemke suggested handing over the "tools of ignorance" to someone else, and moving into even more of a coaching role.

When last we checked in with the Pirates, they were enjoying an off day at Mark Lemke's house.
-John helped Cassius make a great guacamole, and added +1mph to his fastball.
-Jack built a fire and got the grilling done right at halftime, SPD +1.
-Dusty, engrossed in the TV, just played a random domino, allowing Lance to "Domino!" emphatically. Lance PWR +5

The Pirates have begun their winter break from competition. They have settled into their training complex in Tucson AZ, where they will be spend most of the next two months until spring training begins in earnest.

During the winter training period, players will get 25*skill boosts.
(editor note: I increased this from 15)
*At least 5 boosts must be used for hitting, and at least 5 for pitching
All of the 1-15 skills will increase by one point for one boost used.
Batting Power will increase by 5 points for every boost.
Top Speed will increase by 1 mph for each boost.
Breaking balls increase by 1 point for each boost
Stamina and Control increase by 5 points for each boost.

Also, each player can add a pitch to his repertoire that his roommate throws, and it will be a level 2 pitch. If they don't like those choices they can add a CHG, CRV, or SLD at level 1

John, choose a CRV or SIFB

Jack, choose a CCHG or 2-seamer

Dusty choose a SLD (Bob Davis is mostly a hitter)

Lance choose a H-SNK

Send me your choices, and we will rejoin the boys for the beginning of spring training, (which we will not literally have to wait for until February, rather it will be as soon as we get all your responses)

The Pirates held a holiday party today, before everyone went home to spend some time with their families.
Alfonzo had arranged a white elephant party, and everybody got a gift.
Alfonzo also had this to say: "My grandmother introduced me to the white elephant party when I was a boy. She felt that there was a kind of destiny in the gift that found its way to her."

As the wrapped gifts were handed out, John had what was obviously a glove, Jack had a pair of spikes, Dusty had a glove and Lance had a bat.
