I don't get the complaint about top speed draining stamina. It SHOULD drain stamina.

Remember, the stat is "top speed," not "ave speed." you know when an announcer will talk about a pitcher giving it a little extra? That's what you need to reach top speed.

I understand the complaint about "regular" speed being so far below top speed, but since it's the same for all players (absent special abilities), I don't see the problem.

I'll just say that the japanese games are better with gauging average and top speed, although in limited testing without hitting the X button some pitchers do reach about 3-4 mph off top speed when having the red face and pink face.

The new UP pitch seems to eliminate the need for repeated pushing of the X button, you're almost always at your top speed (it does reduce stamina more though)

What's "new" on a 2008 game? Do you mean hitting the up button once more does the same as mashing the A button?

It's not "new" it's just the way to throw a fastball. If you don't do it, you'll throw a "meatball"

I guess the japanese mentality of being amazed at a guy who throws 95 is still apparent in the american games, When I play as larry bernandez (AKA King Felix) Jack Merluzzi is all like HE HIT A 94 MPH FASTBALL.
