April in Review
April was not a good month for the Oakland Athletics. The A's went 9-18 for the month in last in the division and last in the AL. Here are the standings for the AL West.

Seattle Mariners 18-9
Texas Rangers 13-14
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 13-14

And now, we analyze the performance of each AL West team so far:

The Seattle Mariners have been quite a surprise this year going 18-9. Their pitchers have posted a 4.10 ERA, 1st in the division. The have also only allowed 114 runs on 176 hits, also best in the division. They have given up a whopping 24 homers though who is last in the division. They have 222 K's, 2nd, and 112 walks, 1st. On offense, Seattle has hit a .231 average, 2nd, scored 156 runs, 2nd, had 213 hits, 2nd, hit 21 homers, 3rd, had 17 sacrifices, 1st, and 38 stolen bases, 2nd. The Mariners big play has come from Chone Figgins (2CDBCCD) who is hitting .341 with 3 homers and 22 RBIs. He is also 10/11 on stolen base opportunities.

The Texas Rangers have been a big disappointment this year, they've gone 13-14 a bit under .500, but that's nothing compared to the last 5 or 6 years. On defense, the Rangers' pitchers have posted a 4.36 ERA, 2nd, given up 189 runs, 2nd, given up 23 homers, 3rd, gotten 167 strikeouts, last, and walked 125 batters, 2nd. On O, Texas has hit .262, 1st, scored 160 runs, 1st, hit 243 hits, 1st, hit 18 homers, last, gotten 11 sacrifices, 2nd, and stolen 46 bases, 1st. Obviously, the Rangers havent disappointed on offense. Yu Darvish (98 BA 4CUT 4SLD 4CB 4SPLT 5HSHU) has torn it up this year with a 1.75 ERA, a 4-0 record, and 59 strikeouts. Michael Young (2BBBDCB) leads the team in batting average hitting a .393 clip. Mitch Moreland (3DBEBCD) and Ian Kinsler (3CAADCB) have contributed with the long bomb hitting 5 apiece. Kinsler is also 11 for 12 stealing bases.

The L.A. Angels have been a mediocre team this year. They, also, have a 13-14 record tied for 2nd in the division. Their pitchers have pitched a 5.22 ERA, 3rd, given up 155 runs, tied last, given up 223 hits, 3rd, given up 18 homers, tied 1st, gotten 205 strikeouts, 3rd, and walked 132 batters, 3rd. The team has hit .210, 3rd, scored 134 runs, 3rd, gotten 186 hits, last, hit 22 homers, tied 1st, gotten 8 sacrifices, 3rd, and stolen 25 bases, 3rd. Albert Pujols leads the batting average with a .271 average and has tacked on 2 dingers. Jose Bautista and Torii Hunter lead the homers race with 4 each. Austin Jackson has yet to be thrown out stealing going 10 for 10.

The A's have been a huge disappointment. On paper, well, they could be one of the best teams in the league. The Athletics have posted a 5.37 ERA, last, given up 155 runs, tied last, given up 224 hits, last, given up 18 homers, tied 1st, thrown 242 strikeouts, 1st, and walked 141 batters, last. They have hit a .210 clip, last, scored 109 runs, last, gotten 193 hits, 3rd, knocked 22 dingers, tied 1st, gotten 6 sacrifices, last, and gotten 18 stolen bases, last. Total, the A's have been a terrible team. Ryan Roberts leads the average race hitting a .278 clip with 2 bombs. Collin Hollandsworth has put up an AL West leading 6 homers hitting .257. Juan Uribe leads the team in stolen bases going 5/5.

I was looking at the possible free agent class for 2017 and it was very scary how it was loaded with superstars. People like Cutch, Giancarlo, CarGo, those are just like 3 out of 50 superstars. It is scary!
