I would like to ask that no one else votes to veto the Heyward trade. The veto is to be used when collusion/other cheating is suspected, not when a trade is lopsided, no matter how so. Anyone remember the Doug Martin-Pierre Garcon trade that almost got vetoed in the fantasy football league? While Garcon wasn't exactly a stud, he certainly turned out better than Martin, and I would've been pissed if that got vetoed for no reason other than "shit trade br0." At this point, vetoing the trade would do nothing more than bail dish out and punish PPJ for smartly taking advantage of an opportunity.

EDIT: Heyyy great minds think alike PPJ

There is no reason to veto this trade.

It's not like he accidentally clicked the accept button. He had plenty of time to think about the trade, and this is something that both owners wanted. Not to mention the season hasn't started yet and neither of these guys are sure things.

You do not have to like the trade. You can call Dish whatever you want. But you shouldn't stop it from happening.

For the record, I agreed with the veto for the Price for Miley deal considering Price was coming off a CY season. Heyward hasn't done nearly as much.

I use my LM veto if I know that the trade is collusion/cheating. I would never use it otherwise. The personal veto however can be used however the owner wants. If they feel like vetoing every trade, go ahead. If they never use it, that's fine too. If they feel like this trade should be vetoed, they have the right to say so. It requires four votes anyways, so you're looking at nearly half the league having to be in agreement to veto

EDIT: Hell, I'll raise the requirement to five votes. Now you really are looking at half the league. If half the league thinks it's a bad deal, then it should be vetoed

Literally this.

If the league in a whole (well not everyone) thinks it's a bad deal for one side or the other then those people should be allowed to veto it.

You're allowed to do whatever you want, but that doesn't mean the purpose of a veto is to prevent "bad deals."

It's a bad deal for literally everyone except PPJ. And I think that's enough to be able, anyways to veto it.

I agree, but alas, I don't see the five veto mark being reached. It's whatever though. Maybe Heyward will get injured or something. That's the only way I see dish winning this deal.

That, or Chris Archer suddenly having a Matt Harvey-esque season. I know I probably won't need the pitching points in roto in the end, but you never know what's going to happen.

I can take whatever comes to me regarding this deal. Sure, it could've been made out of panic, which it was, but it doesn't mean it's not what both owners wanted to happen.

(On a lighter note, is this a good place to put "Let It Go" from Frozen, or not?)

That too.

I wonder if there's some program out there that shows the odds of certain players outperforming each other. If not, someone should get on that. ASAP.

1. Okay? Isn't the point of making a trade to try and make your team better than the rest? Besides, Dish gave his reasons. If he feels like the trade helps him out, then so be it.

2. "You can't predict baseball." It's one thing if this was done in June and Heyward is in consideration for the MVP award, it's another when the season hasn't started yet and Heyward is coming off a down year.

Do what you want, I suppose.

I honestly don't feel like this trade is much of a rip-off either.

Heyward had a bad season last year and Archer is a young prospect with room to get much better. I can see Archer having a great year and putting up even an all-star appearance. Heyward isn't a Mike Trout-esque player.

Mendenhals Add Ventura, Drop Smyly

The Mendenhals continue to shake up their roster, as they have added Royals SP Yordano Ventura (owned in 17.9% of leagues as of 3/18) and dropped Tigers RP (/soon to be SP) Drew Smyly (owned in 95.3% of leagues). This is likely the result of today's news that Ventura was appointed the Royals' #5 starter for the season.

Ventura carries a much higher risk than Smyly, but he also has a much higher ceiling. He has immense strikeout potential due to the fact that he can hit 100 MPH regularly, plus his curveball is no slouch either. He also has had a great spring so far, pitching to the tune of a 1.76 ERA in 15.1 innings, with 15 strikeouts.

The problems with Ventura are that he lacks a decent third pitch, he can run into control issues, and his smaller frame raises durability concerns. This means he will likely be on an innings limit, which seems to be the trend for young pitchers.

Personally, I like the idea. Ventura has a ton of talent, and the fact that the Royals defense is one of the best in the Majors certainly cannot hurt. I wouldn't expect him to have the rookie year Jose Fernandez did, but I think he'll put up above-average numbers.

Smyly should still draw some interest, as he had a great year as a reliever in 2013, and he carries good potential in all 5 categories. It will be interesting to see if he can make the transition to a starter. He will be on waivers until Saturday, the 22nd.

Lastly, I just wanted to offer some congratulations, as this thread already has more pages than last year's thread. Let's keep this pace up!

Rhinos drop Carter, pickup Davis

In a jaw dropping move, the Rhinos have dropped newly acquired Chris Carter in replace for the speedy centre fielder in Rajai Davis. The Rhinos picked up Chris Carter earlier in the week to replace another speedster in Michael Bourn, whom they had recently traded in exchange for the starting pitcher Ervin Santana to help out a injury stricken rotation. With this move the team replaces the steals that they had lost with Bourn while losing some homeruns and walks they might have gotten with Chris Carter.

In other news 'Prediction' realizes his update wasn't as long and grand as PPJ's and adds more words and letters to make his seem longer.
