Well, I don't know how many tips I can give to make it fair, but Jose Reyes is such a wild card at this point in his career when it comes to health. Add the fact that he's a bit inconsistent at the plate nowadays when he is healthy, he's not worth much in trades.

Don't know a player that could it make it a better trade, but the fact Reyes was involved was probably why the members vetoed the trade.

But Reyes was the whole point of the trade. Mac wanted an upgrade at SS, and Reyes is that. Reyes is an injury risk, but so is CarGo. Reyes has been a top three SS over the past 15 days, and he has seemingly put his hamstring injury behind him. And that's even with his terrible average, which is due to his .213 BABIP, compared to his .310 career norm. Reyes is an elite player at a very shallow position on a very good offensive team. And yet, people perceive his value as being mediocre at best.

I don't think his value is that low, he's a star player but I don't think he's to the level of carlos gonzalez.
But they're not even that far off. It's about a three round difference. For example, Sandoval and Gardner were about a five round difference. The only thing is that instead of two stud players, the trade was between two mediocre players, so nobody batted an eye.

The fantasy sports website I frequent as taught me two things.

1) The only times you veto is collusion. There have been countless discussions about it, and the general consensus is that you don't veto unless you know that one team isn't trying to benefit themselves. I really wish I'd known this before the Heyward-Archer trade, because I probably look like a giant hypocrite now, but whatever. While I still firmly believe that Heyward is the superior player, there was no reason to try and veto that deal.
Unless there is a Tulo for Nick Punto trade, that is vetoable too. And yes, that really happened.

2) It's also taught me that Brian Dozier is a god

So apparently Mike Trout (a 1st round pick) for Joey Votto (a 2nd round pick) is fair?

If one team needs an outfielder and the other team needs a first baseman, I don't see why not. Nothing is ever in a vacuum. There's always other factors. Positional needs is one of the biggest

I don't think you get why positions are used in fantasy though. You aren't attempting to "get stronger" at any particular position. The positions are a formality so you can diversify your roster with players who play different positions in real life. There are only two real fantasy positions: offense and pitching. If I am downgrading my offense based on a player's position in real life, I am doing poor job as a fantasy owner, as in the Trout-Votto example above.

I chose to veto btw

No they're not. The difference between the first and tenth 1B is going to be must slimmer than the difference between the first and tenth 3B. So, having the best 3B but the tenth best 1B is likely going to get you better stats then having the best 1B but the tenth best 3B. If positions didn't matter, than whoever had the greatest outfielders and first basemen would have the best offense. And that's not necessarily the case.

And I know you did.

I think a big reason was the fact that Reyes was previously dropped by the worst team in the league. If this guy was valued that little, then trading him for an elite talent such as Gonzalez seems preposterous. I'm not saying that dropping him was the right move or anything, but hopefully you get the idea.

I don't plan on saying much else on the subject unless Mac stops by and gives his reasoning.

So if Mac comes in and sets the record straight, will you guys let the trade go through?

my team's already pretty much guaranteed to be a cellar dweller this year and, like Skittles said, I have a ton of outfielders to spare but not many infielders.

that's literally my only reasoning, and I think it's pretty fair.

Well if your reasoning is that you're going to be a cellar dweller and it doesn't matter, then I think that's a fair reason to veto.

You sound like a politician, just hearing what you want to hear. Accepting the fact of being a cellar dweller is called building for next year

He's not building for next year by trading a younger, better player for an older, worse one. (Not to imply Reyes is bad)

EDIT: Ninja'd by Prediction

If he already has stud outfielders, why not flip one for an infielder where elite talent is harder to come by? Ellsbury, Gomez, Pedroia, and Reyes. That's a very solid core.

Just let us manage our teams, and focus on yours. This isn't collusion, and this isn't a stud for scrub deal.

His team isn't a contender, so he's basically giving away Carlos Gonzalez for free (yes I am implying that giving away a stud for Reyes is for free). I mean, he's starting Andre Ethier for crying out loud.

Also, I'm not just gonna just let you manage your team if your going to take advantage of members by making lopsided trades. It makes you way too overpowered and makes it unfair for everyone else.

I vetoed again.

EDIT: Weren't you the one who wanted to veto the Martin-Garcon and Heyward-Archer trades?
