Clancy and Bradshaw are both tearing up the minors!

1. Thank you for following the instructions, even if you are a little late. :)
2. It depends on how you look at it. Beckett has slightly better stats, but has only thrown 32 innings on the year due to injury. So, Hopkins would likely have the higher WAR. I'd say Hopkins.

I can't edit the drafted players until the offseason. You also did not respond to this question I asked you:

Adler Placed on 15-Day DL, May Miss Rest of Season
by Richard Griffin, Toronto Star
Saturday, September 7, 2014

The Blue Jays have managed to keep all 5 of their Opening Day starting pitchers healthy until today, as southpaw Moses Adler has been placed on the 15-day DL.

Adler had to come out of today's game in only the second inning after expressing great discomfort after throwing a pitch. The official diagnosis is that he has torn his left hamstring. It is unclear when Adler will return. He could make a start near the very end of the season. He could make a postseason start if the Blue Jays make the playoffs. He could also just sit out the rest of the season altogether, which, reports dictate, is what the organization would prefer to do.

The loss of the finesse lefty is a big one to the Blue Jays, as he has performed better than any starter on the team. His ERA currently stands at 3.69, though he has been slumping in recent performances. His 180.1 innings pitched are also tops on the team. The timing of the injury also makes it much worse, as the Jays are currently in the hunt for a playoff spot. They are currently in 3rd place in both the AL East and the AL Wild Card chase, with a 75-68 record.

Fellow left-hander Sean Nolin will be called up to fill Adler's spot in the rotation. Nolin is coming off a wonderful season at hitter-friendly Buffalo in which he had a rate of over 11 strikeouts per 9 innings.

Jays Blow 5-Run Lead in Loss to Angels
by Gregor Chisholm, MLB.com
Wednesday, September 11, 2014

Image
TORONTO - Angels catcher Hank Conger hits an opposite-field home run.

An absolutely demoralizing loss for the Blue Jays today, as they gave up a substantial lead in front of their home fans.

The Angels did put up the first run thanks to a solo shot by Angels first baseman Albert Pujols, but the Jays struck back quickly afterwards. They got their firs run in the 3rd inning thanks to Kent Murphy hitting a solo homer of his own, his 8th on the year, tying the game at 1. They put two more across in the following thanks to a Hayden Goldson 2-run blast. Add on 4 more in the 6th and by the time that inning ended, the Jays were leading 7-2. With Dean Stradley looking solid at that point, it looked like the Jays were cruising to an easy and much-needed victory.

That all changed once the 7th inning hit.

Stradley got the go-ahead to head out and start the inning and immediately found himself in trouble. After giving up 2 straight singles to Josh Hamilton and Howie Kendrick, a walk to Kole Calhoun would signal the end of Stradley's night. Manager John Gibbons called on Juan Perez to try and work out of the jam, but obviously, he failed. The first run of the inning was brought home via a sacrifice fly by Ian Stewart, scoring Hamilton. After walking catcher Hank Conger to re-load the bases, Perez surrendered an RBI single to Erick Aybar, a bases-loaded walk to Grant Green, and a 2-run single to Pujols. After the single, Perez would be taken out of the game, having allowed all 3 of Stradley's inherited runners to score as well as 4 earned runs of his own. The Angels tacked on two more in the inning, as well as two more in the 8th inning, to seal the comeback win.

Fortunately for the Jays, the Orioles and Rays also lost today, so while they could have made up some huge ground had they won, the amount of games behind the two teams will stay the same.

In minor league news, the Bisons (AAA) advanced to the second round of their playoffs but were blown out in game 1 of their series today by a score of 12-0. The Fisher Cats (AA) were unfortunately knocked out in the first round. As a result, right-hander Deck McGuire and outfielder Anthony Gose were called up from there to take up space on the expanded rosters.

Jays Fly Past Orioles
by Gregor Chisholm, MLB.com
Tuesday, September 24, 2014

Image
BALTIMORE - Edwin Encarnacion homers to left field.

The Jays battle to earn what is no doubt their most important win so far this season. After getting swept by the Orioles at home, a 2-1 series loss to the Yankees, also at home, and another sweep at the hands of the Red Sox in Boston, the Jays take game 1 of a very important 3-game set in Baltimore.

The Blue Jays only scored in 2 of the 9 innings, but they did some huge damage when they did score. Yesterday's much-needed off day helped the Jays out immensely, and it showed. The team's bats came out of the gate on fire, dropping a 5 spot in the first inning on Orioles starter Ubaldo Jimenez. The scoring plays of the inning consisted of a 2-run double by Jose Bautista, a 2 run-shot by Hayden Goldson (his 39th) and a dinger by Kent Murphy, his 9th.

That was all Marcus Stroman needed, as he gave a tremendous performance in what will likely be his last start of the year, going 6.2 shutout innings, striking out 10 Orioles, and only walking 1. The start comes as a nice change of pace for the struggling right-hander, and hopefully it will give him a needed confidence boost going into the 2015 season.

The Jays tacked on 3 more in the 7th off Orioles reliever Steve Johnson thanks to a 2-run shot by DH and call-up Luis Jimenez (his 5th) and a solo shot by Edwin Encarnacion, his 25th. Overall, a great game by the Jays, and other than an error by Goldson, there wasn't much they did wrong tonight.

The Jays cannot win the AL East, but there is still a chance they could take a Wild Card spot. The Twins and Rays, the two teams currently occupying the two spots, both lost tonight, so the Jays are now 2 games back in that regard. However they are also trying to hold off the Tigers (2.5 games back, won tonight's game) and the surging Red Sox (3.5 games back, lost tonight's game) from gaining any ground in that hunt.

As a refresher to those who don't read these articles every day (we don't blame you!), the Triple-A Bisons lost to the Pirates' AAA affiliate, the Indianapolis Indians, in the International League Finals, a disappointing end to an otherwise amazing season for the club. Many of the players we saw in Spring Training got the call up to the parent club.

September call-ups who appeared in this game include:

1B/DH Luis Jimenez (1-5, HR (5), 2 RBI)
C Lou Marson (0-4)
OF/PH Anthony Gose (1-1)
OF Kevin Pillar (Defensive Replacement)
2B Ryan Goins (Defensive Replacement)
RP Neil Wagner (IP, 0 H, 0 R)
RP Dustin McGowan (IP, 2 H, ER)

Tsuchii Earns First Career Win in Last Game of Season
by Gregor Chisholm, MLB.com
Sunday, September 29, 2014

Image
TORONTO - Blue Jays players congratulate each other on their final win of the season.

The Blue Jays may not be going to the playoffs, but today, they got to take it out on someone who is, as they defeat the Rays by a score of 3-1.

The game was a pitchers' duel, obviously, as neither team scored until the 6th inning, when Edwin Encarnacion hit his 26th homer of the season off of Rays lefty Matt Moore.

Fellow lefty Yoshimitsu Tsuchii, one of the players signed this year by GM Derek Dorian, dominated today, going 7 innings, allowing only 6 hits and 1 run, and striking out 7. The strikeouts were a surprise, considering Tsuchii isn't really that type of pitcher and didn't really strike a lot of guys out in Buffalo. He was cruising until the 7th inning, when he allowed a game-tying RBI single to catcher Ryan Hanigan. He would finish the inning having thrown 122 pitches in the game, but the Jays needed to score a run in the bottom of the same inning in order for Tsuchii to be eligible for the win.

So, they did just that. After a leadoff single by center fielder Mackenzie Matthews, two groundouts by Brett Lawrie and Jose Reyes put him on 3rd with 2 outs for Kent Murphy, who hit a single past shortstop Yunel Escobar to regain the lead for the Jays. Jose Bautista would add on another run in the bottom of the 8th with a solo shot of his own, his 21st on the year.

Stephen Brooks pitched a 1-2-3 8th inning, striking out 2 batters and earning his 20th hold in the process, and Lamont Cates pitched a scoreless 9th to pick up his 14th and final save on the season.

Bautista gave his thoughts on the Jays' season after the game:

"I can't say I'm happy about it, since we were in good position to make the playoffs coming into September, but I do think that this season and the next had and will have a different mood to it. I am honestly more excited about next year than I have been in any other season. We have a young, promising group of players here in Toronto and I think that we could be destined for great things. I hope I can stick around to see these guys really realize their potential, and I'm happy serving as a mentor to them. I think that the ownership's losses and all the cutting of my former teammates turned out to be somewhat of a blessing in disguise, no offense to those former players. That's just my opinion, though."

I can't say I disagree.

Slightly sweetens a bitter ending for the Jays... :( However, as Bautista said, you've got a solid young group, and there's always next year. ;)
